I'm not sure of the exact model, but Shiltech have bought a cheap white one to use as a possible track day car - should be interesting

Depends if Kyle is using it... He's into drifting, and will fit 'ditch-finder' Chinese tyres to ensure maximum slide. Interesting won't be an adequate word, if that comes to pass Stuart! :D

Popped by to see the car at PK Supercars this morning. It got there under it's own steam with just a binding brake caliper to worry about. Now that i've spent more time with her, I can see a number of small jobs to attend to that will be very satisfying (I hope).

Fingers crossed that all goes well and i'll get her on the road ad in rude health for the spring. May even bring her to Le Mans !! Maybe.

A quick progress report...

The car has had a thorough going over by Phil Kyle at PK Supercars and the list was long but not too bad. Lots of small items to attend as would be expected of a car that's been laid up for a few years.

Here's what's been done so far.

- Full service inc all fluids. Brake, coolant etc
- Two reconditioned brake calipers sourced on exchange from McGrath's.
- New set of HT leads to cure a misfire. Very reasonable at only £100.
- Air con compressor rebuilt and fresh refrigerant. Now working which is cool (pun intended)
- Couple of suspension bushes
- Rustproofed underside

Next on the list are..

- New tyres all round. The fitted Fuldas have loads of tread but are over 10 years old. I've found Verdestein Sportrac 5 for only £51 each and Phil can fit t them.
- Rust on door and scuttle to repair. It's only bad on the door so should not be too hard to repair well. The rest is very good.
- Alpine head unit to install. I did consider going retro with a period Blaupunkt or Becker but modern tech is so much better.
- MOT

I managed to get a guaranteed value from Admiral Insurance and added it to my multi car for an amazing £91. Its a 5000 miles fully comp deal.

I'm getting impatient and really want it legal and home so I can get on with several small jobs. Looks like it will be ready at the end of February. I hope it turns out to be reliable and fun!

Getting there, I love these 80 / 90s Masers just wish they were made out of something a bit more rust resistant - heh ho, I reckon that will help values for those that survive

Well done Athol.
Just seen this thread.
Saw that car for sale and thought it looked good value. Hope to see it out and about this year then.

If I told you what I paid, you'd be sick. It needed rescuing from obscurity in the back of a garage in Edinburgh. I'll have spent easily more than I paid getting it to standard.

Robert, I've had "just" one GS for ages. I bought a blu netunno one but only had it for a short time before selling to Jayblue on the forum. I'm on a quest for an MCV so the GS will go in the spring....Fancy another?

STOP PRESS - She passed her MOT ! Not quite first time but only a poor washer fluid pump which was duly replaced.

Collecting her tomorrow and taking her for bodywork.

Will post on the total bill to recommission when I get over it.

Sorry Atholl did not realise you had sold one..!! No I think I will stick with the GS I have and I have been tempted by a prancing horse as a possible addition, to be decided at some point..!! Best of luck in your search for an MCV..!!

And on the drive back from the MOT centre, a front caliper stuck and nearly threw Phil Kyle off the road! Back up on the ramp then.....seal perished....new one on the way.

Drat.
