The NART Corvette has a very interesting history. IIRC the tyre company twisted Enzo's arm to let the Corvette run in a Ferrari team slot. The old man insisted it be painted red, and have Cavallinos on the doors.

hard to see what you have there, but if not much of an overhang then just frame it with joist hangers and with the weight taken by front and rear beams, if that makes any sense, think of it like creating an opening in a roof for velux windows
