On the Volvo you can adjust the sensitivity and reaction time... I still cancel it 30 or 40% of the time... habit I guess.

Doesn't appear to have that option on the Ghibli. I might try it and see what happens

Our Disco has this and it’s wonderful.

Around town the street lamps keep them on dipped, but the second you head out into the country they light the road up.

Although it is another feature that leads to complacency..

My Jag has them, as first I hated them and they still turn on in some streets around town and I have to manually intervene. But now I have got used to them, I would say that they are probably worth having.

The RR has them and they are really good occasionally they get confused but accurate more often than not, the 2017 Skoda we had was terrible and more often than not you had to intervene but they both pale in insignificance compared to the manual Cibie Super Oscars on the Fulvia they light up the world but blind everyone else - fortunately it does't get used much at night

My Ghibli has the adaptive beams instead (full beam stays on when a car comes towards you but it alters the beam so as not to dazzle). It seems to work really well... in that I hardly ever get anyone flashing me. It is disconcerting to use at first though.

Yeah, I think mine has as well. Seems to have been a very well specced car. Cool I shall give them a try

So if you have headlight washers then you wont have the LED matrix lights (which I have)

You should still have the adjustable tourist beam, called something weird like countercurrent traffic or something..

That sounds more familiar!

I don't have a car with this feature but suffer other peoples cars that do, regularly. Worst invention ever for other road users. The lights only dip after the car has seen another car coming which means the other driver (me) gets blinded by the modern super bright lights before they dip. I've unfortunately now become the "I'm going to dip second" person which at least means I'm also on mains long enough now to guess where the road is after I've been temporarily blinded ! I say bring back drivers that actually drive the car.

Indeed, they only detect the oncoming car if the other drivers lights are shining pretty much directly towards the car. Of course the oncoming driver is looking at where the road goes, and if that is a bend, you are looking into the main beam of the car with auto light before it detects your own lights in return.
