While looking into possible things we might do for the Scottish gathering i wondered if any of the racetracks up here would let us get private access for just forum members. Crail raceway, which is not strictly speaking a race track but rather an old airfield will let us private access and although we cant use their well known 1/4 mile drag strip, they will set up a track for us. they are only talking about £40 a head which is pretty cheap really. I wondered if anyone else fancied this? its not available on the 29th which is when we may still meet up.

One more thought here (makes the title a bit rubbish but...) we can get Knock hill for £1800 as a private session. If we had enough folks this might be fun, its a proper race track. Fancy racing a bunch of Maserati's? We could have some fun without a bunch of Astras buzzing around and get some pretty good pics I would think? any takers?

ooh! food for thought...

I was 'taken' round Knockhill once by former Club Chairman Drummond Bone in his newly acquired (post-Cup) 3200 GT. It was terrifying.

I've got to be honest- I probably haven't got the b@lls to take the Cup round Knockhill (wouldn't want to embarrass you all!)- more seriously I just wouldn't want to be that unkind to the car- or in fact get in the way of more experienced drivers.

I'd turn up to watch though- or in fact mabey go on in my newly acquired 'other' car...

Have done Knockhill a few times in cars and on bikes (including anti-clockwise) and depending on date (and actually owning a Maserati by then) I would be interested.
If restricted to one marque I have found no-one gets carried away as all want to go home in one piece in their pride and joy.
Found it difficult with the bikes to get enough skulls to make it cost effective at times so opened up to anything Italian and that widened the marketplace but kept the flavour of the session. Maybe invite Ferrari and Alfa etc if insufficient Maserati?
Alfa owners run at least one session a year and they often are struggling to make up numbers.
Knockhill tends to book up quickly for the season so you may end up with a weekday evening session which is an issue for people who have a distance to travel.
