mate inherited 131 1600 (mirafiori?) from parents in 1987. I thought it was rather handsome, lovely dark blue paint with light blue velour.
Likely graduation present after our RAF apprenticeship. Suspect it dissolved in the rain after a few years at RAF Coltishall

Ahh dear old Colt. It's a secure hospital now, isn't it?

the 131 supermirafiori are pretty cars in my eye, never really liked the 132's and the argenta which is probably non existent now

Dunno - only ever visited. Interesting stuff in laser labs but I went to Nimrods at Wyton

Just looked. It's a prison where the compound appears start just down the road from my (very) old house. Dad left in '77 from memory but I think he knew some of the Nimrod crews. They were coming in about that time I recall? Possibly completely wrong :)

the old gals been keeping me busy and sane in these bizarre times, carbs stripped, ultrasonic cleaned and rebuilt with new O rings/gaskets, engine ancillaries cleaned and sprayed, wasn't really sure how to tackle all the light surface rust in engine bay, too awkward to use any electric/air tools with all the different angles/shapes so I decided to order a cheap portable sand blaster, will give it a try in the next few days, interweb is simply fantastic how did we cope before the www, managed to trace and find some really rare NOS parts from germany, italy, poland, portugal and latvia, bloody marvelous what you can trace with a laptop and a dozen or so espressos to keep you awake

Parents had a 131 supermirafiori back in 1978 when I passed my test, mum loved it as it had a bit of oomph, was first car I drove after passing test.

you must remember the orange 131 sports, rare as hens teeth now, think they were also available in a metallic gun metal grey as well

I think it’s a sport, there’s also something in the back of my mind that it still exists and someone tried to pass it off as an Abarth a few years ago.

doesn't surprise me, a lot of rogues out there in the classic car field trying to pass off fake cars and claiming cars are the real deal when they're not

Daft thing is you’d have thought there’d be value in it being a pukka period 131 sport rally car with a load of victories and the British road rally championship to its name rather than an “ordinary” Abarth.

as far as I recall there was the standard supermirafiori, the sport, the racing volumetrico with abarth engine and then the road going abarth, the road going abarths are fetching top money now

if anyone is interested i'm quite impressed with the cheap £30 sand blaster, worked a treat using block paving sand, thoroughly recommended but you would need at least a 3hp compressor
