Another set of cars on show for the Centenary in Modena:

Maserati Centennial Exhibition

The inauguration of the new exhibition was attended by the CEO of Maserati, Harald Wester, and the Chairman of Ferrari, Luca Cordero di Montezemolo. They were joined by the cousins Carlo and Alfieri Maserati, sons, respectively, of Ettore and Ernesto Maserati, the two brothers who in 1914, together with Alfieri Maserati, founded the company that still bears their name today. The guest of honour at the inauguration was the legendary Sir Stirling Moss, the 1950s Maserati racing driver who scooped incredible victories for the Trident marque. The curator of the exhibition is Adolfo Orsi jr., grandson and son of Adolfo and Omer Orsi, owners of Maserati between 1937 and 1967. Coordinating the exhibition on the Maserati side is Luca Dal Monte, the company's director of public relations and press. The exhibition is organised under the supervision and direction of Antonio Ghini, director of MEF and of the Ferrari Museum in Maranello.

We need 20 to get the full P&O deal.So either the rest are going on the chunnel, or have not made any plans at all yet. Maybe to cover all the bases we should include the chunnel crossings as well, so that we know who is going by what method..??

TUNNEL CROSSING:

1. Monday AM.

2. Tuesday AM.
Roger102, CatmanV2, Blu Electrico

FERRY NOTES
£50 return for car + 4 people
With regards to the VIP lounge and priority boarding we are able to book a designated area onboard for you at the cost of £2.00 per person each way and a dedicated lane at the Port for £4.00 per vehicle each way. If you chose to take the dedicated lane at the Port then the Port staff will load you on to the ferry together, away from the lorries and coaches. Both of these are not included in the price above.

So for 1 x Car + 2 people, Priority Boarding & VIP Lounge each way, + Dedicated Maserati SMF Lane from UK = £62.00

It would not be much use booking a dedicated lane on the way back as we all could be coming back at different times etc.
Please send me a PM with your Car Registration & Name of Occupants so that I can get our slot reserved.

The Offishull packages aren't selling at all well....

The PR company has now created some segmented packages to try to shift them:

BACK TO 1937 PACKAGE – MODENA (Package cost for 2 people: € 1,000.00 / Package cost for 1 person: € 750.00)

This package gives you the chance to go back to the year 1937, when the Maserati factory moved from Bologna to Modena.
Participant cars will gather in Modena’s beautiful Piazza Grande, a UNESCO world heritage site. Choose between a guided Modena factory tour and a visit to the new Maserati Centennial Exhibition at the local Enzo Ferrari Museum (MEF). The walking dinner right in the heart of the Maserati factory lets you relive the magic of this legendary place. Hotel accommodation (4-star) for the night of 18 Sep is also provided.

The package includes:

•Exclusive access of participant’s own Maserati to Piazza Grande in Modena;
•Modena factory tour or visit to Maserati centennial exhibition at the MEF, Modena;
•Special walking dinner in production line of Modena factory;
•One night’s accommodation in a hotel (4-star) in Modena.

2014 AND BEYOND PACKAGE - TURIN (Package cost for 2 people: € 1,800.00 / Package cost for 1 person: € 1,200.00)

Maseratis of all ages will gather at Piazza Castello in Turin. Be part of the unforgettable spectacle. The emotions continue at the gala dinner at the Reggia di Venaria, a masterpiece of Baroque architecture. Hotel accommodation (4-star) for the night of 19 Sep is provided. The day after, meet at the Avvocato Giovanni Agnelli Plant (AGAP) where a new Maserati era has begun. Take a guided tour of the production area where Maserati passion takes shape every day. There’s excitement in store for all those who buy this package: the chance to vote at the Concours d’Elegance in Piazza San Carlo, Turin.

The package includes:

•Exclusive access of participant’s own Maserati to Piazza Castello in Turin;
•Gala dinner at the royal palace Reggia di Venaria.;
•One night’s accommodation in a hotel (4-star) in Turin;
•Guided factory tour of the new AGAP factory, Turin.
•Pedestrian access to Piazza San Carlo, Turin, to the area reserved for the Concours d’Elegance;
•Presentation book of the cars participating in the Concours;
•Voting Card: right to vote for cars participating in the Concours;
•Access to the Concours awards ceremony.

...considering entry to Enzo Ferrari Museum is €15, and a 4* hotel is around €100 per room, that's an expensive walk round the factory! And it's an either/or choice, not both. I think they will end up not selling these packages either.

Hi Robert, do we have an idea of what route the main group are taking and what the stop-off points will be (i.e. which city and hotels we'd be staying in on route)?

Cheers,
T

This is being collated now, but briefly:

Sunday Night Hotel - Dover. I have decided against a block booking for this as it's expensive, if you want to book the Premier Inn Central direct, it's currently £35 and a few hundred yards from the ferry terminal.
Monday AM ferry (maybe 7.30am)
Monday Night - Troyes, France.
Tuesday Night - Basel

More to follow shortly..!!

Cheers

French Speed Limt Detection Areas..!!

france-speed-camera-zones.png

There’s only one problem in the gendarmes’ eyes, though: they are still unable to access drivers’ details from a registration plate alone. Which means the hundreds of speed cameras across the motorway network are virtually useless in catching speeding British drivers. That is about to change. As revealed last month in Driving, a new law being drawn up by the European Commission will allow French police to track down British drivers from next May. And then there really will be no escape for British speeders.
