If the experience at Donington is anything to go by, Maseratis were simply being waved into the paddock, as the marshalls clearly just expected them to go there!

The Maserati Owners Club in-field organiser has been in contact with Silverstone ticketing today - sadly Silverstone will not be issuing any more in-field passes. The ticket office's response is that the 31st May deadline was well publicised, and gave everyone plenty of time to apply.

Ok. Many thanks for your efforts. It is a shame that I missed the deadline.

I think that I'll ask for a refund then :-(

Don't cancel, I'm sure many will have a spare seat or two for you guys to join in the parade laps even if you can't get your car on there...(I may have one in the Spyder, if I can't persuade Ms. CB to come along with me - hint: she doesn't like cars or driving in circles, so high likelihood!)

That's a good point Chris, and one I didn't think of.

Bobby, I know it's not the same as taking your own Maser on track, but would a passenger ride on the Centenary Parades any good for you and your boy? I'll be bringing a +1 (in the front seat) with me to the show, but I have 2 rear seats to offer passenger rides (on the Parade Laps). One is already taken (Chris has already reserved this for his nephew/son/grandson... I forget which, sorry Chris LOL), but there is still another spare seat, perhaps for your boy?

Just let me know if you're interested.

Cheers,
T

Good point! It's very comfortable in the back of my QP Executive. Two seats going there...

@Bobby Dandruff

You really should reconsider your plan not to attend. It's a fantastic occasion. I've been taking cars there for six or seven years now. I wouldn't miss it. Indeed, even though I've sold my car and I was only able to go along on the Friday this year because of holidays, I'm still attending and really looking forward to it.

You're going to see more Maseratis than you could dream of.

As for the parade lap. Not to put too much of a dampener on things. But, I've been on a couple of these parade laps in the recent past. Unless you're at the very front, what happens is that you queue up for ages waiting to get onto the track and then crawl around in second. I think I managed third only once, one year. Before being filtered off. Sometimes, before the full lap is complete.

It wouldn't bother me in the slightest if my car wasn't infield.

It's a parade lap, not a race!

As Elliott says, the cars crawl round; I've never quite understood why people imagine they will be zipping round the track at high speed - the whole point is for the cars to parade round slowly, so that the spectators can see them. There's no way a circuit organiser is going to allow a bunch of high powered cars driven by anyone who fancies buying one and tipping up, to drive balls-out on the track.

Bobby Dandruff - it's not unlikely that circumstances will force a car or more to drop out. I don't know if the in-field parking permits are transferrable but keep it in mind.

You can change the registration of the in field car up to a certain date so they are transferable in that respect.

Just received an email:

You will be attending a record breaking gathering of Maseratis in the UK, with a total of 215 booked to come, so, make sure you are there for the record books. This should be the final total number as the booking deadline was 31st May. Well done to all of you for booking on time. It makes life easier for me to manage.

Alfieri Maserati the Grandson of the great Alfieri will be in attendance, would you believe he asked if he could come as this was to be the big event celebrating 100 years of Maserati in the UK.

Forgot to mention on the Modena Centenary thread - Alfieri Maserati will be meeting us at the Casa Enzo Ferrari too :)

Wow Drew, that's amazing :D It will be great to be a part of such an amazing and historic day.

I can't believe we may actually get to meet Alfieri Maserati. I wrote an article in the forthcoming SCD magazine in tribute to Maserati's Centenary, and I talk a bit about his grandad. With a bit of luck it should be published in time for the Silverstone Classic. So hopefully I'll be able to meet him in person and give him a copy. I just hope he likes my article (and it's not full of errors LOL)!

I'm sure he would find that rather cool :)

I must get round to SCD myself - do they allow luxobarges? ;)

I hope he does. It would be such an honour to meet him.

I, like many on here, 'get' what Maserati is about, and it's why I feel so privileded to be able to own an GranCabrio MC, and why I feel (despite currently being ill), I MUST go to Italy and immerse myself in the Centenary celebrations in September.

Regarding SCD, at the moment the entrance criteria still says any Maserati is allowed in, so you should be able to join. But if you want to check with Adam (the owner of the club) then feel free to email him first: Adam@SuperCarDriver.com It really is a great club, with members that are very down-to-Earth like the members on here.

Excellent T - I'll do just that.

Sorry to hear you are ill, I hadn't realised. If it helps, I'm happy to drive your MC say as far as Geneva, collect you from the airport and let you take it from there ;) You know, as a gesture of good will etc :)

Ha ha. Thanks for the offer Drew. TBH my health was one of my concerns and was what made me think twice before signing up to the Centenary Trip. But Robert assured me that the drive over wouldn't be too demanding (a mixture of cruising and some spirited drives), as it was supposed to be a holiday and not a daily long mileage slog to get there!...
It should be epic :auto14:

I drive regularly between UK & Geneva in a single day, without any sign of it being a dreadful slog. You'll be fine :)
Still, the offer stands... :D
