Morning, still trying to split the exhaust on the 156 at the top cats; well siezed and a legacy sheared stud to repair. Also struggling to find long enough RIBE tools for those awkward sods between the engine and gearbox....

Have fun all....

Typical Alfa then............

Morning all, having to do some bodgery myself to get the 75 door latch mech to work on the 90 as the way it contacts with the door handle means the lever on the catch needs extending by 5mm to work

We all need a challenge!!!

Finally tracked down the correct bit to be able to remove the Alfa sump so I'm off down the garden to tackle that in a couple of minutes...

Morning Newton, morning all.

Pics please Newton, and when you have finished that can you come round and do the shells on my V6?

I was going to remove the engine but now I am thinking maybe not. The crossmember that the engine sits on is bent so that has to be taken off, exhaust it tweaked, front cat squished and I want to replace the timing belt and bearing shells and sump, oil cooler pipes and rads.

Maybe it will be easier to hand the engine off a crane and work on it???

If i remember rightly, me and a mechanic mate did the shells on my gtv twinny, something is ringing a bell in the back of my head that he had to shorten a ribe bit for some reason.

Matt give Duncan a ring past the 18th for advice, he knows you may be ringing him ;) Mind he is away till the 18th.

It's an M7 RIBE but you need on 170mm long or more to get to the two up between the engine & gearbox; absolute sods and not willing to drop out or really able to clear the dust plate! In the end I managed to get a set of 1/4" bits that had this one in it and linked up a series of bit holders to get the required length the problem is alignment because of the crown wheel!

Then there is the stick from the instant gasket used; called for a bit of Newtonian leverage with my 6' roadworking pry bar!!! used the sump extension and sub frame then 'pop' :) Finally removing the oil pick up to get the sump clear; but that would have gone anyway for a clear run at the shells...
