I wonder how long it is since any road at all has been resurfaced?
They seem to have just finished about 2 years of work on the M56 between the airport and 1 junction along, turning it into a death trap, sorry, smart, motorway. However, it has been left with a surface like a farm track, full of ruts and holes. It’s brand new, you couldn’t make it up!

The govt never loses revenues though does it.....just raises it from somewhere else. Surely the huge increases in VED over the years has more than offset any concessions on a minority or EV's or Hybrids. To pay £695 per year VED now is crazy when you consider all the other combined taxes and duties on the motorist.

My Vehicle Tax Reminder form said the QP would be £630. But when I tried to pay online I got this:

Does this mean that (a) I can't tax my car (due today) and (b) that it will be £695 when I can do it, because I waited a day too long??? Grrrr!

The penny-pinching regarding VED transferring when buying a second hand gets me, buy the car one evening and you’ve got to pi55 ball about sorting VED to drive it home.

Be interesting to know if you bought a secondhand car a week ago and had to tax it from March onwards the 6/12 onwards was at the old rate.
I think you were doomed Mark as yours started again from April the first and I’m guessing by the morning you will be able to buy your tax. If not screenshot it and stick it in the window, similar to old days ‘Tax in post’ but put ‘Balls up at DVLA’

Somebody from the council came and painted white lines round all the pot holes, only it's been that long the paint has mostly worn away, none of them have been fixed

Well the system is back up, and they stung me for £695. The reminder letter did have this warning, to be fair:

...but I'm left wondering if I would have saved £65 if I had paid as soon as I got the notice a few weeks ago. Or would they have chased me for the balance afterwards?

Taxed mine this morning £395, benefits of pre 2006 car, still a rip off though
