Bloody **** I've started a thread on Volvo....Update after the weekend.....All looking good so far.....Liz is pleased and she is enjoying the S60 more than the Octavia VRS and her 5 series touring.....Its just so comly and it defies it's miles.......Its got 100k up and feels as tight as new.........Never thought I would post pics of a Volvo on here but heres a few...............Amazing what you can turn up for £1000 these days.....

Thats one word to desribe it Adam.........But for a grand wasn't to worried about the colour.............It is actually growing on me...Think it's the cream leather sort of suits the colour.

Shame about the Alfa it's unusual for the gearboxes to go.

The Volvo looks ok like you say esecially for a grand.

Matt, you know I love Alfas but the 156 a bag of bolts compared to the S60.......The Alfa may be a more sporty drive but the Volvo feels quicker, safer and so much better to be in...As a family car it is so much better.....

Funny you should mention that. Drove the GT up to Derbyshire to see the in-laws, they've just sprogged so have an S60. After a ride in it, the Alfa felt rattly, twitchy and the ASR/VDC and ABS has failed in the last week. However, the Volvo was no fun at all, the Alfa I find myself revving through 4k RPM just for the fun of it... Different cars for different jobs really. Hopefully the electrcial gremlins can be sorted and we can rely on it again!

Nah, same old staid cr4p with better marketing, that's all. I'd rather have a BM any day of the week.

As you say Lewis..different cars for different jobs....With the family on board and for a dictance drive I would take the Volvo but for a spirit drive the GTV.......

spot on, a friend of mine's mother had an XC90, what a pile of sh!t inside, nasty plastics, squeaky trim and the door card when you leant on it squeaked so loud, oh and it drank fuel, 3.2 V6.
