I like the 2.0 diesel they do on the X3.....

Its just the X5 is a better drive than the X3 and you could get one for 6k....

2L diesel will always hold it's money, good mpg and not bad tax group, it is the same with the x5, the cheapest x5's in the country are the 4.4i as they are cr4p om fuel.

spot on, a friend of mine's mother had an XC90, what a pile of sh!t inside, nasty plastics, squeaky trim and the door card when you leant on it squeaked so loud, oh and it drank fuel, 3.2 V6.

They must have got worse then Adam as our 10 year old Volvo is built like a brick sh!t house, doesn't rattle, is good on fuel, lovely interior and has 100k up on the clock......And comfy...christ did I mention comfy......I love my BMW's but they are a far harder ride and for distance I would take the Volvo but then they are different cars...The ultimate driver machine they aiin't......But I as a convert to having a comfy car instead of a sporty one for family transport....Even the '11' plate E class I had as a hire car wasn't as comfy as the Volvo...

Adam

They must have had a Friday afternoon car my wife’s XC90 has been bullet proof over the 100,000 miles and 7 years, she has had it she drives on forestry gravel roads every day and no squeaks or rattles (except the roof box) of any description.

Interior is in very good condition despite housing two young children & two large dogs!

The T6 was a ridiculous choice of engine, anyone who buys a petrol 4x4 needs their head looking at unless they have "LOADS A MONEY"

My friend's mother must have had a bad one then, cost over 30k as it was the 3.2 V6, what i did think was bad on the XC90 was the fact the seats were not leather but some plastic substitute and they cracked really easily.

They sold the XC90 6 months ago Dem, my mate told me they only got 6k for it, was a 56 plate, grey/blue colour with grey interior, 75k miles. Lost 26k on it. Painful.

They either have leather or cloth no substitute (fake leather) on them mate as far as I'm aware. 6 k for a 56 plate is far to cheep i take it they traded it in. Also due to it being a T6 no europeans want them ,made for the US market and sell out there in their 1000's.

Volvo offered us £13,000 04/53 100,000 miles off a new one this june and ours has had a tough life!

A chap came to northern italian car night last night and he'd just recently bought a V reg 156 V6 for a grand, it had practically brand new 18" OZ Racing Superturismo Alloys with newish decent tyres, new Koni suspension and the interior looked like it had done about 20K, the rear seats looked like they'd never been sat in. Also got complete set of pads and some other bits and bobs in the boot, all round the car looked immaculate despite in need of a good detail.

All that for £1000, unbelievable really considering the wheels alone probably cost the previous owner that.

Yep traded it in for a Seat Ibiza 1.2 so my mate can learn to drive.

Geat cars for the money Sean but would never buy another after our experience...I sure you can get a good one for 1k but you never know whats going on in parts you can not see...Ours looked stunning but didn't stop £1250 worth of bills in two weeks hitting us.....More than the bloody thing cost......................My wife has been truly bit by the 156 and even I would have to think very hard before buying again......

She knocked it on the head as we headed for Cornwall in the Volvo with the kids in the back...She said that she had fear of the Volvo breaking doen even with 100k on the clock.....She would have been worried in the 156.....Plus it was so comfy and didn't rattle which again you could say that about the 156....As family transport the Volvo does it soooooo much better...Never thought I would say that about a Volvo over an Alfa.....My 3200 was far more reliable than the 156 and didn't cost me as much in the first year...
