Threads have a wonderful habit of going off piste. FWIW I see more Maseratis' when I am in Glasgow as opposed to Edinburgh.

Yup, probably down to a higher population of highly paid footballers in Glasgow I guess... There are a couple that I bump into at the local petrol station pretty much every week.

I hate the roads in Glasgow, they are falling to bits and driving a Maser you feel every hole unfortunately. Why don't they fix them and it would be a great city..??

Yes they are pretty awful in general but some areas are better than others. Once you get out of the city and into the country they are generally pretty good. I'm lucky in that we don't need to drive in town much and my route to the motorway is pretty good now. I think the council were encouraged to keep them up by me and a few neighbours billing them for new wheels every few weeks. My downstairs neighbour broke (and claimed for) 3 wheels last winter!

That must be the way to go, claim for damage and keep claiming. I agree roads outside of town are pretty good, but Glasgow itself, very poor, for a major city of Scotland it's a disgrace, what must overseas visitors think..??

The Council has no money! Glasgow is blessed with a population that don't really live within the city limits. The inner city is not so desirable, although it is improving. Most people live in East Renfrewshire, to the South and Dumbartonshire, to the North. That makes for a large area without a massive council tax rate given the area that they have to cover. I live is East Renfrewshire which, i'm led to believe, has the highest rate of council tax payments in the UK. A whopping 96% of residents pay their council tax. The roads are still not great though!!

Traditionally, Glasgow was a little em, dangerous, in the centre so most of the nicer housing and schooling is located in suburbia!

on the original post I am in Aberdeen but do get down central belt, often, i was at hopetoun house bash a few years ago and it was ok. I would be up for a gathering of some sort. In the TVR club we used to meet up at a nice hotel some where (which involved driving to get to! :)) and line the cars up in front. some of these were weekends and we ran go karting and a ceilidh and that sort of stuff. But just meeting up at a coffee shop for a blether works too!!!

Ok, then let's park this until Feb/March time as the weather looks like it's about to turn and my Maser is sleeping for winter. I'll make a note to pick this up and PM those that have expressed an interest once we have the Arctic Winter out of the way!

We could also meet without all the Masers (I know some are all weather guys!) or you could come to my house in Glasgow for a cup of tea and I will keep my car in it's bed!

No Maser required. Petrol head status is all you need! Anything Italian or interesting would be welcome in my opinion.

Looks a bit unlikely I will make it up in December now, we are all busy doing different stuff, it might have to be January..!!
