Well, my Mum decided to do dry January and has given up the wine. So she's drinking gin instead.

Good morning everyone.
Resigned ourselves to the fact we won't have central heating this Winter and most likely can't use our wood burning range either.
Snow causing a bit of chaos with motorways closed around Paris and black ice too.
Hopefully we'll avoid that here.

Nothing like a good ol' state of emergency. Supposed to travel to the state capital today, then have a meeting back here tonight...perhaps not. Decision made that we are closed, save for "essential staff." Any guesses as to who might be "essential"...? Gonna be a long day.

Wind gusts...70 mph in the mountains to 30+ at the coast. Schools canceled because buses will get tipped in those kinds of winds. This state has five urban pockets...two cities in excess of a million people...but 100 counties, some sparsely populated. Differences in infrastructure are considerable...
