Brooklands Italian show

I just looked at the ticket prices... £17 advanced and £20 on the day.

It is a little steep, no? I swear it was only £10/12 a few years ago...

I am going to sit this one out but I am going to display at Brands for the Blancpain race on the Sunday... I haven't been to that before so it will be a little different

I’ll be to Brands as well, assuming I manage to return home at all for both these events

You can always join the membership and have all year access for only £43. If you live local, interested in other Marques, that'll cut down the expense.

I could be there MLC but honestly the format is tired! I’ve driven the track so many times and that bit is great first and second time especially when a Lamborghini loses it and crashes lol... will see what Mrs Contigo says and see if she fancies a session :D

I'll echo most of what has been said already by most. The event and format is a little tired and could do with a pep up or tweak. However, also that it is a good chance to see everyone and spend a few hours on traditionally a good dry warm day looking at some cars. What is not to like.

I didn't go last year as had to work that weekend but have been each year on previous years. I did the track parade laps a few times but the novelty has worn off a bit now as it takes so long to get queued up and actually to do some laps. The when you are on track you don't get that many laps although you do progress nice and briskly which is nice.

The price of tickets has surprised me a bit. I am not sure what they were last year as didn't go but they were £13 for an adult and £6 for a child in 2017. That is a 30.77% increase to the adult advanced ticket and a 33.33% increase to the child ticket. There is the museum and MB World (free anyway) but most have seen that before a few times so adds little.

The main issue I have is we have to get there pretty early some coming from a fair distance away. To then have to pay to get in to display your car which is half the reason people come is strange to me. I suspect that maybe half the people that are there are owners of cars displayed so maybe this is the reason. The revenues would be very low without these displayed cars owners' fees and attendance would also be much less. This is a guess btw as I have no idea the split of numbers visitors to owners displaying.

Most other events we do the entry is free to displaying cars to encourage people with these cars to attend. Without these the event would completely different.

I suspect half the attraction for me was doing the parade laps for free which is nice. However as it takes too long out of your day to do the driver briefing, queue for the laps prior to getting to the circuit, then queue some more waiting to get on track. Although it is nice to get so close to the track cars. It just takes maybe 2 hours of driver briefing and waiting to do half a dozen laps of a small circuit at best out of your day. I come with my son now and can't do the laps with him as he is not allowed in the car and I can't and wouldn't want to leave him on his own. Also I am there also to spend time with him so it doesn't fully work for me.

I understand it is difficult and expensive to put on events so fully appreciate what is done but I think there should be at least a discount or 100% concession to displaying cars.

I am coming, will be there and will enjoy it I am sure. However it could be improved.

Just a bit right?

Not sure what their game is with these prices because it will only put people off from attending... Either members of the public or those who are displaying and do not want to spend in excess of 50/60quid to spend a morning/afternoon at a car show with their partner or kids to eat soggy bacon in cheap baps and wash it down with bad coffee at an overcrowded venue

I notice the ticket prices for the super car day at rooklands in July are cheaper so i will probably attend that... Also going to register at Goodwood for the breakfast meets its a bit different and seems like a good event for networking

Where did you see the prices for Supercar Sunday were cheaper? They looks the same to me:

I am sure you were right that they have been cheaper on previous years though. In 2017 they were £11 adult and £6 child as opposed to £13/£6 for Auto Italia. Look the same this year though.

It says it on the link mate...

Italian day 17 advanced 20 on the door
Supercar day 15 advanced 17 on the door

Nominal difference though, I prefer the supercar day because it is much less crowded / more chilled out

And why can't you get a Big Mac when they are serving breakfast?

I remember years ago when they first started the breakfast, me and a load of mates had just been to The Ministry of Sound and rolled up to McDonalds at 7am on the Sunday morning and they wouldn't serve a Big Mac "sorry breakfasts only". :1408::1408::1408:

The depressing reality is that it’s all to do with machine processes and storage.

‘Unfortunately, we only have the capacity to cook one set of products at a time. Breakfast and main menu items cook at different temperatures and we need the same set of equipment to cook sausage and eggs and beef patties; there is limited space in the kitchen and we have the maximum amount of grills at the moment in all our restaurants.’

I wish the “average “ gastro pub took the same attitude - they get round it by having everything in freezers and reheat in steam ovens and microwaves.

Too much detail o_O

Not quite... "British Indian Restaurant" style food uses a base curry which is referred to as "gravy"... it is used to enable restaurants to push out food quickly (within 20-30mins) while cooking a curry from scratch without the base sauce will take over an hour and customers will not wait that long
