Just checked with my insurers (Equity Red Star) who say as long as we are not racing or being paid I am covered. They took down all the details and went away and checked and have put notes on their system. 
They did however mention do we need Public Liability Insurance - apparantely this may be required by the organisers in case some numpty trips over your car when it is parked or it drops someoil they slip on or something and they try to make a claim. Is there anyway of checking with the organisers?

have only tried one for a quote so far and has came back at £110 for fiona and me. willing to pay that but will look at other links over weekend to see if I can shave it a bit........looks like I might be back in!

Worked well last year.
Andy - do you have a booking code? The website's showing £75.65 advance purchase room only (twin), £12 pp extra with breakfast.
IIRC there was a deal last year that included breakfast if we quoted the event.
