When will they start taking deposits on the Alfieri? I will definitely order one if the actual car stays close to the design concept.

If they say the productiong one is ging to be smaller I really hope they don#t take away the lovely lines and shape by doing that.

I've put my name down for one with Graypaul Nott'm. They aren't taking deposits at this stage, merely collating the names of serious buyers to put them in the hat to be front of the queue.

I think I need to research into new car purchasing finance to see how much it makes sense.

There's no commitment to buy, obviously, as no contracts have been signed. And if you are financing it, even after signing contracts there are ways of pulling out of the deal. Not something I'd recommend doing, but it can be done due to the contract being a 3-way agreement (i.e. you, the car manufacturer/dealer, and the finance company).

But I'm very honest with dealers, so if I'm only taking a passing interest in a car, then I'll tell them that, and not try and 'pretend' to be seriously interested when I'm not. The honesty seems to help, as it ends up being a 2-way street and the dealer is typically very honest and understanding in return. So when I tell them I'm seriously interested in a car they take it seriously as they know that I'm not just trying to get freebies (e.g. free invites to events etc.)

Ooops, I've noticed with gone slighty off topic! Doh! LOL

Going off topic is a hallmark of this forum...

PCP. I think I understand it. But one thing I do not understand is - what happens if you crash the car and write it off.
- How do the finance company judge what the car is worth? (Considering they have set the value in 3/4 years time)
- If the insurance payout is not enough between the Finance company's valuation at the time of the crash - what do you do? I presume this is where GAP insurance comes in. But I've no idea the cost of GAP insurance.

Yep, that's where GAP insurance comes in, but it's not for just if you bought a car on finance, but bought the car using cash etc. as well. Furthermore there are different types of GAP insurance, some that just cover the shortfall (if any) between an insurance payout and the outstanding amount owed to a finance company (if bought on finance, obviously), others that cover the difference between the car insurance company payout and the amount initially paid for the car (i.e. return to invoice), and another that covers the difference between the car insurance company payout and what the cost of the car would be to buy at the time of the accident (i.e. as per invoice GAP insurance, but accounts for any rise in costs of a new car due to inflation etc.).

Most GAP insurers have claim limits, and most will not cover Maseratis (for some stupid reason)! But contact David Burns-Keane at Frank Pickle insurance, Tel: 01943 850999, (http://www.gapinsurance.co.uk), as he is brilliant when it comes to GAP insurance! I can't recommend him highly enough. Just tell him T (with the Maserati GranCabrio MC) recommended him, and that should put you on a good footing in the first place.

Thanks Tilum - that's where the new car on finance might become more tricky if GAP insurance is not available. It is not for now...more so 2017!

No probs. If buying a car on finance, GAP insurance is certainly worth it just in case the worst happens (i.e. your car is written off), and of course just as long as the premium isn't a rip off (like it usually is from most car dealers).
