DATE CHANGED: 22nd and 23rd June 2013

What we are doing is offering automatic places to the people who came in 2012 first as next year we are going to be over subscribed.

We usually go with a completely different group for the past 6 years but they have dwindled but I am sure a few will be up for 2013, plus I think a few more will make the trip next year. I don't think anyone at our house this year said no to 2013. Of the 10 that came this year, we have space for another 4 at Pontvillain, plus Benny and Ryan have already put down for next year so thats 12 already.

We have another 4 birth cottage just up the road with a guy called Wayne we have used before so we have room for another 6 so anyone seriously thinking about this should PM me sooner rather than later to bagys your rooms. We also have another guy called Alain in the village who can house another 4. Both the other dwellings can either have breakfast there or as one commune at the Gite.

So, only 10 and a half months till Le Mans 24hr, put your names down if you wish to attend, max we can take is 22:

1. Matt (confirmed 1st)
2. Rosie "
3. Martyn (confirmed 2nd)
4. Graeme " (Tentative)
5. David (confirmed 3rd)

Matt, do they do club stands at the 24H, as they do at the Classic around the Bugatti circuit? If they do it might be worth enquiring. Everyone could park within the circuit and with a reasonable number the cost per car may not be any more that off circuit parking?

Yes the 24H runs every year in June, joined every second year by the Classic run in July. This thread is for the 24H next year and I can tell you that in 2013 Audi came first, second and third, but their 4th car crashed into a Ferrari. :D

Well done Arfa glad to see you joining up early.

Not that it matters, but the ages range from a couple in their 20's, 5 or so in their 30's, about the same in their 40's, don't think any in their 50's and 3 or 4 in their 60's.

What age group are you in Arfa, and what car are you intending to bring?

We also have La Butte available to us, they tend to do couples and has room for about 10-12. I would expect at least half of them to be filled already too, Loz and Kaz, Miles and Linda, Paul and Pauline.

Matt, i prefer to organise the Italy Autumn trip for now, which is closer regarding timetable.

I'm watching all the threads, so when it's time, i'll raise my hand!

50s for me , 60s for Stephen. We definitely won't be bringing the girls as they're already planning a trip elsewhere. I'll be bringing the Ghibli Matt

Cool, I look forward to it...we may have already met, but the old grey matter is not what it once was.

Update: 20 spaces have been booked for 2013 over 2 separate houses. Houses will be allocated by your order of confirmation. First 15 at Guy's, 5 at Wayne's. For those staying at Wayne's, all facilities can be shared and breakfast can be had at either house.

It would appear the majority will be going Route 1.

Route 1:
Sailing Dover Calais on Wednesday 12th, staying in Montreuil sur Mer at the usual hotel, travelling to Bernay on the Thursday and staying in the usual Lion D'or, then Friday down to Pontvillain for the usual 3 day stop over.

Route 2:
Sailing Portsmouth Le Havre or Dover Calais on Thursday, meeting up with Party 1 and staying at the Lion D'or in Berany then travelling onwards.

Lewis, the more the merrier. If you can get me numbers, I could ask Guy if he can find somewhere local and we can all sort of be together???

And then that really would be the perfect excuse for a proper knees up at La Butte on one evening!

****race date moved****

Next year's 24 Hours of Le Mans pushed back a week

Race fans that look forward to the motorsports mecca that is the 24 Hours of Le Mans will have to wait one additional week.

According to an Autosport report, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest had announced the dates for the 2013 race as June 15-16, but following a request by the FIA, the dates had been changed. The race will now take place the 22nd and 23rd of June. The test date for the race will now be on June 9th.

In a statement from the ACO, the change was made, "in order to harmonize the world calendar of motor racing events."

The schedule change will not alter the fact that the 24 Hours of Le Mans remains as the centerpiece of the FIA World Endurance Championship season. The current season includes 12 Hours of Sebring, and six hour races at Spa, Silverstone, Sao Paulo, Bahrain, Fuji, and Shangai.

Well that now makes for a busy couple of weeks for me as I'm going to the Isle of Man with the Lotus boys on the 28th of June which is now the following weekend.
Oh well, may as well take the long way home from Le Mans to prevent having to go back to work for a few days in between, then just swing by the house and pick up a different car on the way past to the IOM....
