How about ditching the GT realising 10k over a QP and buy a QPV? I dare say the QP would be a slightly better more practical daily than the GT. Depends on what the GT is worth I guess.

Interesting Phil I don't think I'd feel good about running something that someone else would value into the ground.

Well, seeing as you already get a car allowance, sacrificing this extra cash for a company car instead is a backward step, having just gone the other way!
Ordinarily I'd agree if the budget was higher but the sub 5k luxury car can be a minefield, the only way to do it is buy one at disposable money then if it throws a gearbox you can just send it over the bridge

5-6k in something you've got to fix it

Most companies, if you are paid a car allowance, expect you to have a £20K+ car that is relatively new under manufactures warranty or extended warranty.
Of course if you can get away with less and use the money for other things...
