If you wanted to cover a lot of miles there were certainly worse cars to use.

They are great for covering big motorway mileage, and will return a fairly decent 29.8 mpg (I could never get it any higher) all day long at illegal motorway speeds. Have a massive boot, ideal for hauling wine back from France.


I would even consider a cheap 3.0 phase 1 car if I could find one with sorted rear suspension and not stellar mileages. A bit like this:-
