Not done Blyton yet. Hope it's fun. Are you going to compete? Which club you in? Need to get my Exxy down to NMS, and then I'll be looking to do just that through the HSA, though next year now I think.
Blyton is a nice track - it has proper racetrack tarmac laid over an old runway, so the run-off areas are in general massive and flat concrete, but the track has good grip, no stones, proper kerbs and flows well. Means it's also a very good place to run road cars like the Masers - Evo magazine use it to test cars, but the lap times they produce don't include the chicane in the long back straight - they just go straight through that section. Makes a massive difference and means they can get to near 60s laps in road cars, whereas a real race car driven by a professional driver in the Blyton Sprint series runs a time like 65s on a lap which doesn't include the last 100m before the pits! Bit of a cheat, really... Without the chicane though, cars like the Masers would be 160mph+ on approach to a 90deg corner which doesn't have any real run-off. Had to happen for most punters. Take the Exxy to a test/track day there and you won't be disappointed.
NMS? Are they the guys preparing your car? Is it good to run yet?
I'm in the 750MC - the plan is to run the car in the BikeSports Series Class D, doing circuit racing rather than hillclimbs/sprints, although they provide good testing of how the car is running and I can get a guest entry fairly easily. Problem is, the car has to run in Sports Libre, and will be outgunned by the considerably larger engined machines, and I need some ultra soft tyres to be in with a shout, as the circuit compound I've got is too hard to work instantly. Used to run the OMS in the HSA, particularly at Harewood - good series, but I'm looking for more track time than a hillclimb day provides.
What about Mallory? Fancy doing a test day there?
