Would imagine so...Think I will need to re-map to get the best out of her Geoff.

I think mine is now around the 200bhp make. Which makes the diesel GT the car it always should have been.
And it's more economical as well! :D

Is it the 2.4, Andy? Looks great in red and will be an excellent work horse for your runs to Bristol. You should see the right side of 40mpg on runs.

The brera only came in 2.4 diesel whereas the 159 had the 1.9 and 2.4

Great 5 cylinder diesel, MAF loves his

Well done Andy, happy for you

Amazing what polish and wax will do EVO........ Close up you would see.....but I got it rather cheap so over time will get the bits done.......

1.Bonnet respray
2.Side siles respray - This is urgent before the winter as the paint has peeled on the leading edge.
3.Wheels refurbed in anthracite - Just notice a wheel specialist has just sprung up outside work in Portbury, Bristol - That will be handy.
4. Driver seat side bolster needs stitching
5. Boot badge needs replacing
6. A full detail to get rid of the scratch's and paint swirl
7. Front mesh in bumper needs tidying up......May just take them out and spray them black.

Then
7.Re-map to 250/280
8.Some kind of exhaust mod
9.Spacers
10.Springs

Then I'll be 100% happy.....

It was by showing Mrs MLC a Brera that pulled her away from an Audi TT to getting an Alfa, I love the look of them, have done since they came out. Unfortunately I got the 4200 instead. The top of the range V6 are almost as heavy on fuel too.

I can vouch for that - averaged 22 mpg with a mix of town and country driving.

Lovely to look at, but anaemic sounding V6. Comfortable ride, but did not hide its weight well.

Missed opportunity - especially not producing the GTA: http://www.italiaspeed.com/2005/cars/alfa_romeo/10/brera_gta/101.html

I liked the V6 rumble tbh given it essentially was a GM engine with Alfa heads.

Disliked the 320km range on a fuel tank.

Platform let it down being built on the heavy GM Steel premium platform.

If they had a bigger engine, it should have been a Maserati and not an Alfa IMO.

Still a stunning car to behold to this day.

Agree the car is too heavy...The V6 for me is just not worth the money and the MPG you get......I drove a V6 some time ago and just didn't like it, all that 4 wheel drive gubbins just made it to heavy...Now the Prodrive S version was very much better and answered so of the V6 faults...That was a much better car. The 2.4 Diesel is great as an every day unit but still heavy in the nose....STill a lovely place to be as a daily driver though and I think you can make it even better......

Fair enough Andy.

We never got the Prodrive version here in Oz so it was the factory V6 or nothing.

Agree it's still a great daily driver. Wouldn't mind being in one now tbh as a daily.

When i was seaeching for a diesel, the brera was rejected cause it has almost the same lt/100km as the gas version.
For me the best engine for the brera is the 1750TBI, which is lighter and with an ecu it can be brought to 260 hp.

Well done Andy, another car change.

Its actually a sensible buy. OK, you aint going to get the kids in the back but the 2.4D will make the car a great mileage muncher.

I did drive a V6 last year and it was better than the one I drove at launch...Perhaps the miles helped........Agree good daily drive and great looking car....The Prodrive was chalk and cheese against the normal V6......

Looks great. A mate of mine has a red 2.2 with the anthracite brera s style wheels & it is a really nice looking car . If you are looking for places to remap it, ProAlfa in watford are great. I've used them for years now & still use them even though I've got the RS now.

Been to the body shop today and quoted £500 for the bonnet and both side skirts and protective film on the side skirts as per OEM......

That's not too bad a price but get them to throw in a full body MOP and I think you've got a decent deal

They're not far from me. I'll pop in and have a chat about a remap on my 159 ti. Do they have a rolling road there?
