Track Day suggestions

I'm interested providing:
It's on a weekend.
It's a reasonable distance from where I live, taking into account any tyre wear on track.
It's suitable for a GS (i.e. not too tight & twisty).
My car will pass the circuit's noise test limit.

I'm aware it's a fussy list, that's why I've never taken my car on track apart from the Brunty charity days. If it's too fussy to fit in with whatever's organised I'm happy to sit it out.

thanks!

I've always assumed not, so have never bothered to try. If Drew reckons it'll pass 105db it's worth checking at some point I suppose.

They're all my neck of the woods, so I'd do any. In the Exxy, as I need all the track time I can accumulate.

Blyton Park sounds interesting, but I probably won't be able to do any of the dates on any of the circuits. Aug/ Sept fully booked already, Oct half booked. Spa is especially interesting. Forum trip for next year perhaps?

I've Done Rockingham on my Yamaha FZ1 & the QP

Both very good, the circuit has a great mix of slow & fast banked section with coned chicanes image.jpg

I would second that. Something just a bit special about spa.......

doubt it will be as good as a track day but I got my dad a SuperCar experience for his birthday and got one for myself too while I was at it! Has anyone ever been on one of these and would they recommend? I prefer to fry the brakes/tyres on someone else's car, especially as all 4 have recently been changed, and not sure I can afford the outlay of replacing after just buying a new car! Its this one, think it works out around 10 laps:

I am looking at buying a shed with no MOT and modding it up into a track toy. Going halves with a mate who is a mechanic and we can share the costs etc. looking at an Audi A3 1.8 T Quattro 180 as they are very easy to tube up to 250 plus with relatively cheap mods.

The problem with drive days is they are just laps in a supercar that you can never really drive a 8/10ths or more. With something like the VXR day you can rinse them for very little outlay. The best day if you can afford it is the Palmersport one.

If you want to do Croft there's this being organised for next June. Don't know much more about it at the moment but similar to Brunty so won't cost anything (other then fuel, tyres, brakes......). Raising money for NSPCC.

Just realised the link doesn't tell you anything at all! There's a bit more on Facebook.

Top link David will like that page. Would people be up for it if we could do a gate? It might be a good alternative to Brunty if it is cancelled next year.

Very close to Le Mans though! :)

I've done quite a few super car days and I have to say they've all been pretty awful. Fair enough you get to sit in an expensive motor car, but the driving experience has always been woeful. There is absolutely no chance to push the car, so you end up being told to do the whole circuit in 3rd and 4th. Soon tired of that I'm afraid. The only exception I can think of is someone like Palmersport, but you're into a different price bracket.

I'd be up for that too.

I'd also like to do Spa next year, now that would be epic, but a trip to Croft or Rockingham this year - why not!

I'd REALLY like to organise a trip to Spa for a day on the track next year :)

Keep the comments coming chaps - it's starting to look like an October weekend date is emerging as the favourite.

Totally agree with this, having had the opportunity to read the instructors briefing notes for one of these events I would never do one as they are briefed to ensure you get nowhere near the cars limits.
