Wheel Spacer options for Gransport?

Hi all,
Relatively new to the SM forum so probably repeating a frequent enquiry - re wheel spacers for the Gransport.

The only ones I can find are those from 'Formula Dynamics'.
They do 15mm & 25mm hubcentric spacers (the latter for rear only).

I'm considering 15mm front & rear but the FDs are very expensive - £700(!) thru the Performance Italia website, including extended bolts.

Does anyone have FDs fitted to their 3200/4200/GS ?
Are there any viable alternatives? (I don't believe Eibach make any that will fit)

ADVICE / COMMENT greatly appreciated!!

A big welcome to the forum SLINC....I'm aware of the FD ones but don't know of any more to be honest...I believe Miles off here may know of different ones as I believe he had some made for his GS...Sure he will be along soon.

Forgive my ignorance but what is the purpose of wheel spacers, is it just cosmetic?

If you go with the same size all round then yes the spacers are cosmetic really. For me the wheels sit much better under the arches with 15mm added. If you additionally drop the car on the spring mounts (also makes the car look like it's sitting better) then it does improve the body roll a little, and if you fit wider spacers at the back compared to the front the turn-in is a little better as well.

Thanks for reply Emtee.
Agree that the wheels look a little lost under the arches on the OEM set-up.
Had spacers on previous rides and they improved the stance on each car.

Being somewhat naive I hadn't realised that the GS has adjustable ride height until a recent trip to TDI to have the geo laser aligned (recommended btw!!).

Will definitely go for a slight lowering to complement a subtle spacer effect.

I bought the Hills spacers and longer stainless bolts from Sprogs. Both beautifully engineered. Hers my thread with a couple of pics:

Hi MAF260,
Thanks for your reply.
Looks like I'll be taking the 'Hill/Sprogs' route to wheel spacer nirvana.

What width spacers did you go with? Was it an off the shelf purchase or a bespoke order?
Also, any tech info on the specs required for order (PCD, new bolt diameter/length etc) would be helpful if you have it!

Thanks in advance,

SLINC

Hi SLINC,
I went for the 15mm front & rear. You really don't need any more than that.
Spacers are here: http://www.hillengineering.co.uk/catalog/ws015sp-p-118.html - Talk to Hills and mention the forum rather than order online as they gave me a few quid off, might have been free postage, can't remember! Hills should have them on the shelf.
New bolts from Sprogs on here (send him a PM, but note he is a very busy man!) - you need 15mm longer bolts all round. These are made to order, I think.

Make sure you post some pics when you've fitted them.

Many thanks!!

I was advised to get the thinnest hubcentric spacers I could find and use the same widths front & rear (by TDI).

Notice Hill Eng supplies 11mm, 13mm and 15mm.
Think I agree that 15's are the way to go though.

I've emailed HE to contact me and mentioned I'd had them recommended to me by helpful SM Forum members!
Will let you know if I get a discount, and will CERTAINLY post up some pics once sorted.

(thanks for the PM too)

I have the FD spacers, they were put on by the previous owner. No issues at all, they are great.
Here are a few pics of the way the car looks with them.
It is also lowered with the FD springs.
Mind you this is a 2002 CambioCorsa, not a GranSport
On the second pic the rear wheel is the standard 18", the 19" was being repaired due to some kerbing

Hi, I really like it. What width are the spacers front and back?
