They are fast but sound very uninspiring. Don't have leather either IIRC. Still a good deal mind.

I saw that deal yesterday too. I did think about it but a Golf is just a bit boring, if it was in the more inspiring Seat, I would have problaby gone for it.

I just want a new lease car cheap, Merc C coupes are cheap but by the time you add in the £2.5k deposit they are not so.

AMG kit, Manual and full leather is a great car as a daily hack.

VWFS are doing some crazy deals on the current Golf R (300bhp, AWD).

£2400 deposit + £180 fee. then £178.79 pcm incl. VAT.

With deposit and fee works out at £6,692.17 over two years. Absolute bargain for a car of this calibre.

You can also spec it with a DSG and the price is £209 inc. VAT which is also great.

Excess mileage is 7p/mile so if you go over the 10,000 allowance then you will be charged the excess.

You can't even get a base Mito for that, its a great deal.

I think we need a reality check here as £3500 depreciation pa is not a cheap car. You need to keep cars for longer to get value.

Easy and good value for it's price/length of ownership. Fast but not special in any way.

Really? I think you need to do the maths on it.

If I bought this car it would be 30k plus, in two years and 20k mile sit will be worth low 20's. That is basically 8k gone down the drain and you have to tax it and sell it which considering there will be a **** load of these on the market in 2 years because of these lease deals will be very hard work.

This deal is better than the depreciation the car would suffer. The old saying is that you should buy expensive things that appreciate in value, and rent/lease expensive stuff that depreciates in value.

Also fast but pretty special too imo, it is winning all the shoot outs. I drove the Leon Cupra R up goodwood hill climb a few times and whilst good it is properly boring and dull as **** in the look department. The Golf still remains one of the best in its class and probably the best all round car in the World imo.

I live with that rule....buy what goes up, lease/rent what goes down.....

the deal I got for the mini was excellent, I would have lost 12k in 3 years and with my deal I loose 9k and hand it back....

Agree on the maths Phil versus buying that car new but the point I was making was you can buy cheaper cars/keep them longer.

Of course you can, we could buy a Dacia Sandero for £5995 and run it for 20 years or until it dies and that is cheap motoring but let's face it most cars like that are dull. This is as good as a performance car you are going to get for very little outlay each month and a small ish sized deposit. Leasing isn't for everyone I get that but as this is a new car offers thread I thought this was a stonking deal and one I would take myself had I not just gone into a new deal a few months back!

Have an S3 - fast but not special.

In yours and mine eyes it isn't but for alot of people an S3 is the best thing since sliced bread so it is all subjective stuff. Most people are happy with a A3 or 118d and think they have made it but I guess we just set that bar a little higher!

I agree Contigo, and I am massively against buying cars on finance. As I see it, there's no better deal out there for a nice lease car. I'm going to have a look next week.

Very true.
