My tuppence, for what it's worth
Lewis had Max from the gun, pressured him into the first few corners, even passed him on the Wellington straight before Max left braking as late as possible to grab the inside line. Max was out of position on nearly every corner coming up to Copse due to the pressure from Lewis.
Copse is certainly not a two car corner and both drivers know this, Lewis was quicker coming into the corner he showed the front of the car to Max and Max moved away to give him space but then both assumed incorrectly that the other would lift. It look like Lewis thought that as Max had lifted and made room he was going to give him the space, Max assumed that as he had made room but was still in front it was his corner. Both drivers could have still avoided the crash, Lewis could have stuck tighter to the inside apex or Max could have run a bit wider to give Lewis room, neither backed out or changed their line and contact was inevitable.
It is a dangerous corner, there were two fully committed racers doing what they do race, their were two big egos in play and judgements were right on the line. In my view either could have avoided the crash, either had options, Lewis was faster, Max was in front they made the choices and touched on a very fast and dangerous corner,
We want them to race, that's their job, their was no last minute lunge, there was no you don't know where I am, to me I have it down as a racing incident as either could have avoided the problem but both wanted to win
