Hi All,

After a year of very happy ownership I've decided to upgrade from my 2002 (52) 4200 GT to either a newer 4200 or a Gransport if my budget allows.

I bought the car from a reputable indy in July last year and have had no problems, barring the need to replace the clutch shortly after purchase and the dealer made a contribution to that cost. I had the flywheel and thrust bearing replaced at the same time, so only the clutch plate will need to be replaced next time.

The spec is as follows:

Grigio Nuvolari metallic, Avorio seats, Nero dashboard, Nero door panels, Grigio Medio piping, Grigio Fumo carpets, 18" Multispoke alloy wheels, Alluminio callipers, GPS Navigation system, Climate controlled air-conditioning, Electric front seats + driver memory, Front seats with heating system, Electric folding mirrors, Driver, passenger & side airbags, Skyhook active suspension system, Anti-lock brakes (ABS), Electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), Anti-slip regulation (ASR), GSM phone kit, Maserati alarm system, Maserati toolkit, Maserati Grigio Fumo carpet mats

I bought the car with 18,500 miles on the clock, the mileage is now 28,000 so a service will be required in 2,500 miles but this should cost no more than £1,000 with a reputable indy. I can even have the service done before sale if needed. The car has a complete Maserati service history. The MOT also expires in July.

The Pirelli P-zeros are in an excellent condition and I've also bought a full set of Pirelli winter tyres, which are compulsory for use in certain European countries.

I also had the wheels full refurbished and painted black. As you'll see from the pictures they really do the car proud. The body has been swissvaxed and both the exterior and interior have been maintained by one of the best detailers in Europe. The same detailer refurbished the grill with high grade steel mesh a few months ago.

There are only the smallest of stone chips at the front of the car and some tiny scratches here and there. Otherwise the bodywork is sparkling and rust-free. The interior is almost as new, apart from a small scuff on the driver's seat, where it's rubbed from the driver getting in and out. This is truly an exceptional car, very few are in this good condition.

The only issue is that the car is currently in Budapest and I'm not planning to bring the car back to the UK till early July. However I can supply a huge number of photos and scans of the log book and the invoice for the clutch replacement. Of course if anyone who wishes to come over for an inspection they can do so . They could even buy the car here and drive it back... ;)

If the car were serviced and MOT'd and in the UK then I'd have no trouble selling for £18,500. Therefore the fixed asking price without the service is £17,500. Delivery to the UK is included in the price.

Thanks a lot for your positive feedback. I have a great car and despite the minor logistical issue of my being in Hungary at present, this is the best car on the market for the price, imho of course.

Hi Stu, Sorry to see that the car is up for sale, especially after all the work you've put in to it, but it's good to hear that you're staying with the marque and hoping to upgrade.

I hope the sale goes well. From what I've seen of it it looks prime, so hopefully you'll find a buyer in the not too distant future.

Cheers, Emtee.

Hi Easyplan66, If you search on here, but also over the road, you'll see just what Stu has done, and the care he's taken in doing it. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Probably need to allow Stu a couple of days to check in.

Cheers, Emtee.

Those black wheels give the 4200 a completely different look.......much more agressive and distinctive.......looks like an awful lot of car the money

if you have any more pics I would like to see them. I have just started looking for a car.My email is ah@easyplan.uk.com
thanks

Hi Easyplan66, sorry for the delay with getting back to you, I was out of the country for a few days and away from my pc. I'll send you a load of photos right now, probably via www.yousendit.com so I can send lots of high res pics of the car and also the full detail process it got after I bought it.

PM me if you want to talk about the car, I'm happy to give you a call.

Stu

You guys are the best! You're doing a better job of selling my car than I am :) The whole thing about this forum is that I feel I couldn't mis-represent my car because I know the other member would call me on it and in a very public way.

As to what I'm thinking of, probably a 2005+ Cambiocorsa or a Gansport. I'm perfectly happy with my rarer manual but all the talk of the cc has left me very curious!

I don't think you'll be disappointed with the CC Stu, If you want to get it at it's best, I'd advise going for a GS rather than a 42. The 42 is okay in sport, but pretty cr@p in normal mode. The CC was sharpened up for the GS. I'd add a very recent clutch change to your requirements though!

CC is the way to go Stu...I was very sceptical of these a few years back but then drove a 4200 CC and realise that it was the future......If I was looking at a car and had the choice I would always go flappy. If you ever go on track you will also see that it really makes sense...

Manual stick shift for lots of town driving........paddles for any other kind of driving.

Thats interesting..why would that be...because of wear from too many changes? I find that they are easier to use in town for comfort as no clutch to push down

Town driving will wear the clutch very quickly on the CC, but it's not so much that, but the continual hunting. Even in sport if you're in slow traffic it's either trying to drop from second to first, or if in first it's always a wondering whether to disengage. It the only shortcoming really, and you do get used to it. I tend to drop to first more readily and ride it through on the throttle rather than waiting for the CC to make up its mind. You'd have thought the auto would be the perfect way to cope with town stuff, but sadly it's the opposite, mind you it ain't a real auto.

I never used auto in the CSL...Just seemed a waste of time. The paddles worked just fine.
