Matt's your man. There are a few of us ex-Alfa owners on here, I'm sure the diesel is fine but that V6 engine ... drool.

would go for the v6 but already own a few guzzlers, a 3200(weekend) , 635 shark bmw(the daily), lotus esprit ( been trying to sell it) and alfa 155 track shed. The misses wont miss the v6 but I did think about an lpg conversion

thanks for the support for the diesel, i know it really the best option, I turn a blind eye to fuel consumption in the masser and then bmw.

Sorry Drellis just catching up.

The Alfa GT JTD, in a word, buy it!

I have had a 1999 GTV 2.0TS, 2001 156 1.8TS, 2004 GTV 3.2V6 and a 2007 GT 1.9JTD

Now, the worst engine was the 1.8 just because it was a bit gutless, the 2L TS was very very good, but the top of the pile is the 3.2V6 simply a stunning engine. Now the JTD is a different kettle of fish. Its powerful like the 3.2 but economical too. I know the figure 0-60 are some 2 seconds apart, but the JTD pulls like a train and returns 500 miles per tank, the 3.2 about half that, so the question is, is the 3.2 worth twice the fuel to you, if it is, then buy it, but if you are unsure, then buy the JTD you will not be disappointed, plus you can chip it to either 170bhp or 200bhp for something ridiculous like £250

I have a 150bhp Lusso with Bose hifi and as a cruiser, life does not get much better. Ok if it was my main car, then I would go petrol, but this is just a runabout to load the miles onto, I will always have my toys.

Thanks all a diesel it is as it is the wifes car and runaround. Just been informed that it has to be black with tan hide, and only one diesel on autotrader with this combo and nowhere near me! this might be like looking for the masser.

Yes, go for the diesel.

I dithered between it and the V6, drove both and bought the diesel.

Excellent car for the couple of years I had one.

Another yes for the GT jtd - I had a remapped Blackline as my last car - 180 bhp, 290 ftlb - with the must have Q2 torsen diff. Incredible torque and traction and even when driven (very) hard gave mid 30s mpg.

Mine was 100% reliable and it really is a very practxcal car.

Only 1 piece of advice - go for it!

I have a diesel Blackline and absolutely love it. It's fully-loaded, goes like stink and just gave me 42mpg average over 500 miles of fast (!) motorway, A-roads and traffic. I've also found it to be a very practical car as it seats 4 in comfort and has a surprisingly massive boot. Great looks and sporty handling finish the whole package off. With a remap it makes the V6 look somewhat pointless apart from the engine note.

I had a 3.2v6 with Q2... for 18months after my 3200 GT got written off. Fab Car & Great all rounder, even did the Ring in it... :)

Word or warning, the paint on the Alfa GT is cr@p so red and black will show up all the rubbish and wear quickest.

Best to go white, silver or grey, maybe a mid blue metallic.

Mat's right about the paint. Definitely not the greatest. For some reason GTs suffer terribly with road rash all over the front bumper and leading bonnet edge regardless of colour, just some show it worse than others. Mine was only 2 years old when I bought it, hadn't done much mileage and yet the front bumper is a disgrace (mine is Nero Carbonio). Keep meaning to get round to having it painted, but until the BMW engine conversion is completed it's my only car. Jay the valeter posted on here about a black GT he had to do a full correction on - said it was an absolute pig and took hours to get sorted. That car was newer than mine!
