Jay, what did you think of the quality of the paint on the Alfa GT, I have a cat C one that is flat red plus lacquer, and it appears a very poor quality paint job, expacially around the front and rear screens, where the metal curls over and goes under the windscreen rubber.

Great job though.

Can you tell me what process and product you used on the paint?

Matt, was with a friend last night who had a 159..He has just sold it as he couldn't put up the unreliability and shocking dealer network...So some things never change.....The one thing he did say was the paint was shoclking...It was only a year old and he had to have the rear bumper sprayed as when he washed it with a prssure washer the paint flaked off. When he took it to the body shop they said they have had a few Alfas like this with paint flake and it didn't suprise them...Not good. And I thought they were getting better....

Thanks Andy, they really need to sort this out. The paint on my 156 is amazing, its 10 years old but still really good. On the flip side I have had 2 GTV's from new and both were terrible, the paint seems to swirls up really bad.

The wifes Punto is fine, it think it maybe down to which factory the cars are made.....remember the Alfa Sud, build by out of work farmers in the south (SUD) of the country which is really poor.

Ill find out where the 159 and GT are made, I know the last GTV's were build by Pininfarina.

Such a difference in quality.....Sad as the impression you get is that things are different with the new models...........My friend loved his 159 but the quality issues was just a step to far for him.

Only time will truly tell of the more recent cars...................but a pathetic quality assurance issue if your paint flakes off the bumper so easily....a " not fit for purpose complaint" if ever there was one....regardless of age!

my friends f430 was bad, so bad that i with no eyesight without my contacts could see what he was on about, then when he got the r8 the difference was so obvious even more, italian cars are shite on paintwork

Ferraris are infamous for dreadful paint, but my 159 is holding up really well, about to turn 130k and it scrubs up nicely considering it is ex-fleet so has probably had minimum care lavished on the paintwork. I'm going to give it a good going over in the next few weeks (mental note to order new clay bar!) to hopefully keep the worst of winter at bay.

Strange, they are all the same company, and I think the Maserati paint is the best I have had.

What do the rest of you think?
