So my comment was pointless and without merit huh? Is that right!
I am staunch Tory but cannot defend the indefensible. So much has been written about his day trip to Barnard Castle with his partner and child in the car to "test his eyes" that I won't go over old proven ground again. Sufficient to say WITHOUT DOUBT he broke the rules. As the lead advisor to Boris he should have gone.
The only valid argument you could possibly make was whether his breaking of the rules has led to people doing a "dominic cummings" or not.
My take on this is definately........... Doing a "dominic cummings" will be a saying for many years to come.
My comment to you therefore is that your comment is pointless and without merit as for sure I am right and you are wrong!:p
Your pointless, un-evidenced and unproven post was regurgitated “news” that the Dominic Cummings/Boris Johnson’s situation has considerably reduced the support for the lockdown. I stand by my comment that posting non-fact evidenced “news” on here is pointless - why do it unless perhaps you don’t have anything original to say? I also stand by my fact based comment that the media’s scrutiny and reporting of it, which incidentally has been found to have been incorrect in some material respects, was actually what has led to any reduction in support for the lockdown, ie if the media hadn’t reported it initially and continued to pursue the matter with a view to securing the demise of Cummings, there would have been little or no public reaction.

As for the rights and wrongs of what Cummings did, arguably in breach of the lockdown rules, that’s a separate matter and one for which he has not been fined or prosecuted. But what makes me laugh is that the media have been seen to be breaking the rules of lockdown and social distancing etc throughout the period in question, but that’s ok. F***king hypocrites. And I wonder how many of those still shouting about it are genuinely innocent of such “crimes”.

For me, this is another tragic indictment of the society we now live in. It seems that nobody in the public eye can ever make a mistake - if they do, the media/we won’t stop until they have paid for it in very significant terms, eg losing their job, career, marriage, life. Who raised the bar so high for such people and why? All it potentially means is the some very good people stop doing some very good work for the benefit of many because they show they are human and make mistakes. And yet to be human is to make mistakes, we all do it over and over again in our daily lives. Indeed, I subscribe to the view you learn more from your mistakes than you do from your successes. Again, I believe the media is at the heart of a lot of this - they want their stories - but at the same time as many criticise them for it, they also seem happy to jump on the bandwagon when the media uncover a new story that they can use to make somebody look bad or bring them down. Hence, I don’t read the news much and when I do it is with a huge dollop for cynicism about anything they have to say beyond the real facts.

You started the argument by calling my point pointless and without merit.
I called YOU out on that statement.
Now you say my point was un-evidenced and unproven.
How wrong can YOU possibly be? It is all evidenced. The only **** seems to be coming from the mouth of two people.
Those people are ............
1/ Him
2/ You
Trust me, NO ONE in the whole of the UK apart from you two believe his stupid story. NO ONE.
To move on to your other weak argument, "No one can make a mistake in the public eye now".
In the midst of a very serious pandemic when credability of the Government is paramount in getting the public to lock down then the person who made the rules better do everything by the book. He clearly didn't. The fact that he didn't get prosecuted by the Police is totally irrelevant.
Your last sentence that you "don't read much news now" is obvious and didn't need saying. You are clearly not well read.
Dominic cummings, made big mistakes on this important watch..........British lives matter and more will now die because of your stupidity. More now will feel they can do a "dominic cummings". Such a shame because the government had the people with it until then.

Guys steady on , flick those safety catches back on or we,ll have a friendly fire casualty on our hands ,
Fact is what's happened since it was evident that the NHS position was prevented from melt down is that the general decision was taken that the economy was the next important thing to save as very quickly the death rate due to poverty would far exceed the covid rate , ( trouble is the government can't be seen to be telling you that ), and the scientists havent hot the friggin balls to come out and say that outright because they are of the leftish pursuasion
So reading between the lines , the word is youngens under 65 get out there and restart the economy but take personal precautions , old farts stay in doors

When the true figures eventually come out and are reconciled with the various different methods of collecting the data and recording them , you will find there will not be a faag paper width between them , all this chivying to keep at the bottom of the death toll is bllx , and was a temporary fix needed to keep that particularly country in check to reduce histeria and chaos , and by and large it has worked , the liars will be exposed in the next 6 months when things resemble a lit bit of the old norm , this government has by and large kept a lid on things and no one has really experienced poverty hunger or severe hardship so get a grip guys and don't be party to the chaos causers

Hopefully no-one anywhere believes this stupid story!

Apparantly they're "the best, the smartest, the most brilliant anywhere, and they’ve come up with the AIDS vaccine. They've come up with — or the AIDS, and, as you know, there's various things and now various companies involved. But the therapeutic for AIDS"

Unfortunately they haven't invented an anti feckwit vaccine.

What has that got to do with the discussion? We are talking about the "cummings effect" here.

There is no cummings effect ...................wake up its all kings clothes , you have read too much into the smoke screen , it'll be tea leaves next
What im saying is ..........its all white noise , like flies poo its miniscule in the scale of what we face , one small section of society is using that as a cop out excuse and they really should just be ignored ............its all designed to distract the focus away from the real goal ..................for me its like tinitus , in the end you learn to live with it and dont moan and discuss it continually , like whats happening here ...........................you have let them distract you by giving it some thought and debate

You're projecting. Without asking me, you can't know.

The height of ignorance? are you serious? You sir must be the height of gullability.
So here’s some evidence. You read but you clearly don’t understand. The evidence I am asking you for is of your so called “Cummings effect”, ie the subject of your original post, that I called pointless, not about why Cummings made his trip to Barnard Castle. And if you’re talking about the YouGov poll, then you need to look in the mirror when it comes to gullability!

But there is also a public health element to Cummings’ actions to consider. Polling conducted yesterday by YouGov showed that 70 per cent of the public think this debacle will make life harder for the Government to get across any future lockdown messaging. Just 18 per cent say that it won’t make any difference. This feeling isn’t just constrained to those with an axe to grind against the Government either – majorities across all regions, ages, political persuasions and social grades polled by YouGov showed that they think that the Cummings row has worsened the Government’s hand when the next change in messages comes.

Rwc, your argument is clearly wrong. Try reading more sensible articles, you know, ones which give facts.
You cannot defend the indefensible.

Catman, there are FIVE question marks in my post......you do see them right?
Here are some more fairy tales, some are not as good as the ones cummings tells..........
Cinderella
Sleeping Beauty
Rumpelstiltskin
Puss in Boots.

When you actually figure out what facts are as opposed to “news” “opinions” “polls” “statements” please do come back and we can have an intelligent conversation

Rwc..............Also this article from the Guardian today.....................
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...mmQ8A-JZAQXdIExJTKBrZ53cyZxixVc_NhQjIHdovikGw

Or this article today..............
Ah, and we all know that all scientists and medical professionals are always right, right? Oh, but hang on what about when they disagree with each other? Are they both right? Or both wrong. Or perhaps they are just expressing opinions not facts.

And as for action against the public prosecutor, what a waste of public time and money (to go along with all the public time and money already wasted on this matter) that serves no purpose other than a political one

There are none so blind as those who will not see. I could present you with evidence until the cows come home but you will never see or understand it.
Have you perhaps considered going back to school, there are special classes that you can get.
