Really?
As far as I can remember they are only doing the last 6/8 that were registered but not built..
I don't think Jaguar will confirm the price but I believe it was rumoured to be in the £1m area!
Beautiful bit of engineering in the flesh!

Hmmm, I suppose it depends what stand it was actually on. If it was THE Jaguar stand then I'd say it's not his one but I know the company finishing it off for him took his up and put it on their own stand.

Yeah, this one was roped of on a turn table all on its own on the jaguar stand.
Revolving thing of beauty. In my opinion anyway..

I stand corrected, said the man in the orthopeadic shoes. Thanks to Alan Partridge for the terrible joke.

Visited the show today.
The Club Maserati stand was huge, but a big gap of missing cars.
Not one biturbo/32/42/GS. Room for a new Ghibli and Strad though...

I was a little miffed by the guy on the Maser UK Club stand when I mentioned I had a lovely low miles old 3200GT..
All he said was,err one of those

The original idea for the stand this year was to try and show Maserati through the ages. A car (or two) per decade. In general this was very well achieved, but I do agree we were missing a 3200/4200 era car. But you can only bring what members offer, and offering on the day is a tad too late!

There's no doubting that the club will want a good 3200 (etc) on the stand in the future, so please join up and make it known that you can donate your car.

The cars that saved Maserati's beacon, the 3200GT,4200 and GS, they don't even recognize...
If It was a nice old 90k Bora resto, Wow! but so what..
The later cars are just as lovely!

Donate may be a little too permanent...Loan would be more to my liking. ; 0)

A few years ago the whole stand was given over to the biturbo. So it's simply not true to imply that the Club in some way shuns cars that are newer than the 1980's. My 1999 QP IV was exhibited last year, as an example.

It wasn't only 3200/4200 that we couldn't fit in this year. There's was no room for a Ghibli, Bora, Mistral, Shamal, Karif, etc. I personally could have down without the new Ghibli and GT MC, as it is a "classic" car show after all. But I presume this was part of the sponsorship deal with Graypaul. (Though I don't know that for certain so don't quote me!)

But if anyone has a really good, show worthy 3200, that they are willing to lend, do please contact Edwin Faulkner at the Club to let him know.

Why am I not surprised Dave that they said "er one of those", reinforces my position on joining the club too.

All it takes is one poor contact/experience to be reported and a given club could be tarred with a certain image.

So I'd say put it down to experience and the varieties of mankind and look at what the club does/is as an entity

Many of the people on the stand own 3200/4200. I wouldn't say they don't like or appreciate the cars in the club.

The show is for classic cars and apart from a few new models most cars were pre - 1980.The club has many members with 3200 and 4200 cars and they regularly attend club events but this show is really for older cars and if you attended you will have seen that. The club stand was a credit to the club and probably the best at the show, the cars were 100% and a credit to the badge. As regards the people I have always found the members to be friendly and everyone that attended Silverstone seemed to have had the same experience.

I know lots of folk from the club and have found them all great folk. I'm joining for 2015 and going to start going to events. There's loads of stuff up here for us northerners too.

I think the show is shrinking somewhat. I seem to recall that a few years ago there was more floor space, some of which was split level. Or are my grey cells playing games again?

Oh, and this year Silverstone Auctions were charging for entry to their stand; yes I know Bonhams et al charge c£25 for a nice glossy catalogue that usually admits 2 to their auctions, but all SA seemed to offer was a small flyer which seemed rather cheeky imho (no idea what the price was though - and I don't care).

Silverstone Auctions have charged for entry before...

Interesting comment from the club chairman to me, during a 30 minute or so chat - 'shame we didn't get a BiTurbo on the stand - something like a Ghibli Cup would have been fantastic to help fill in the obvious gap'. If we can find a really good 3200, I can personally promise it will be on the stand next year too. ;)

Maserati Club won the Stand of the Show award, and had the Car of the Show on the stand too (the red 5000GT which many people saw in Modena)

A few photos of the Maserati stand for you...
