Yes - Edwin emailed me today asking if I was going. Would be rude not to! :)

With the club having a presence here, is there a discount code available like the Silverstone arrangement?

edited to add... Ignore me, it's been a long day. I just found the details hidden in full view in the club mag.

The UK owners club have a pitch and 'paddock club' access along with parade laps.
Is it for anybody or just the Owners Club?
No anyone. Tickets are available through the Donington Historic Festival website.
Slightly confused by this (doesn't take much I know LOL ). But if we buy regular tickets, then how do we ensure we get "pitch and 'paddock club' access along with parade laps"? But if indeed we do have to get the Car Club Package to get in-field display parking, parade laps, etc, then how do we get it without being a member of Maserati Club UK, or use their code?!?

Furthermore, as it is the Donington Historic Festival, is this meant for classics only, or are cars like the MC allowed/wanted?

Cheers,
T

As I understand it: you can't. Anyone can buy a ticket and go to the event. If you want the access to the paddock and parade, that is through the Car Club Package and is for members of car clubs only (clue in the name…:)).

The Silverstone centenary parade was a special arrangement via Miles, whereby the Owners Club offered the Forum the same access code and entry deal to maximise the number of cars present. I’d be surprised if they extended that one off deal to apply to other meetings as well: if you want the Car Club package, you have to support them and be a member of the Club. It’s one of the benefits of joining the OC, and the offer for Silverstone pushed me into joining the OC in recognition of that. But as it happens I can’t go to Donington due to other commitments.

It's a historic festival so yes the focus is on older cars but in my experience at such things anything "interesting" is more than welcome - I've taken the QP to MAC Classic events and been warmly welcomed.

Booked for the Sunday.

I also joined the club on the strength of the generous Silverstone offer.

The discounts for Silverstone and Donington events alone have already covered twice the cost of the annual subscription.

No brainer really for me.

Thanks for the reply Norman. I've owned a Maserati (in one form or another) for several years now, and first looked into Maserati Club UK when I got my first Maserati (back in November 2010). However I never joined the club as the majority of the events (be they social breakfast meets, local drives, house visits, car shows,...) were predominantly being held in the South of England, meaning I wouldn't be able to attend many (if not any) of them. Furthermore, the majority of the cars in the club were classics, whereas my GranTurismo was a modern Maserati, and not appearing to be in keeping with what the club was about (which seemed to be more about the appreciation of Maserati classics). And as the membership runs from January to December, I never joined in November 2010 as I would have only been a member for 1-2 months.

I did join a car club last year, however. But that was because they (SCD) are based in Sheffield and the majority of events are around the Midlands and Yorkshire. SCD is not exclusive to one marque, meaning that I have been able to get to see and have various experiences with other exotic marques, not just Maserati. This is great for someone like myself who has a passion for supercars in general, not just Maseratis. They also attend various car shows (inc. the Silverstone Classic and British GT Championships), hence they also have discounts on car club packages for car club members. (In fact the discounted rates that Maserati Club UK receive for the Silverstone Classic are the same as the ones SCD members receive.)

The reason for enquiring about the Donington event is that, with it being Maserati's Centenary, there will be the 'Maserati Centenary Trophy' race on the Sunday, as well as parade lap(s) during the lunch break. This, along with Donington being virtually 'on my door step' I thought it might be good to go along. Hence I was wondering if Sports Maserati had arranged something similar to the Silverstone Classic with Maserati Club UK.

Hope that helps to explain things better.

Kind regards,
T

Tickets dropped through the letterbox today and it finally feels that summer is about to start. :goodnews:

I hopefully have a full Maserati season ahead starting with this one and the Monaco GP in May, Pageant of Power in June, Silverstone Classic in July and Oulton Park Carfest in August.

I've never had it so good. Bring it on!

Not really interested in joining 'the club', but will tip up at CD if the weather is good and looks vfm.

Just joined this forum, interested in local ish events to the Yorks/Mids area, so will keep an eye out.

GS 06 in The gun metal grey, black leather, apologies for forgetting the Italian..
Owned and enjoyed, mostly, for the last three years.

Fantastic day out although I had to leave earlier than I would have liked. The weather was kind and there was an very eclectic mix of competition cars in attendance.

I think around 20 cars went out on the track and we got 3 laps in! It was amazing to be following a 3500, a Mexico and that beautiful blue Ghibli around the circuit. It was good to meet other owners across the whole spectrum of Maserati ownership and I got involved in some really interesting conversations.

Here are a few more pics. I didnt take as many as usual as I spent much time working out how to use my new go pro camera.

It was also my first outing since fitting a set of Quicksilver back boxes bought on here from ncslee and I am very pleased with them.

Thanks to Jerry for sorting out paddock parking passes at the eleventh hour. It was very well organised.

Can't wait for Silverstone!
