Pulled away from the start gate, changed to second...tried to change to third, but no response...tried neutral, no response...completed the lap in second, pulled over and some override forced neutral. Gearbox light came on and flashes every 4 seconds...Turned off the engine to see if that would sort it, but now she refuses to start. Battery reset, jiggled relays, checked fuses near the battery, no difference.

So the kind marshals towed me onto the road and the AA relay+ That comes with my bank account has taken care of transporting Doris and a 3-day car hire.

So a few firsts for me today, first drive in a hybrid car (gadget heaven, desolate of thrills), first time in Cardiff (can't be bothered driving home after all that) and first time I watched my bank account visibly cringe with the change of a little red light! Hopefully it's just a relay, and all will be well, but Marios will let me know on Monday.

What a shame, Chris. You've lavished so much love and attention on Doris (and hard cash!!) that she shouldn't be misbehaving for you. I hope the issue isn't anything major and that you're reunited with her very soon.

Me too, Miles. Thanks for all the good wishes everyone. It was a great day, I got to try out my new line through the bus stop, was accused of being the last of the late brakers and learned a lot just following others round, especially Grinzz. All round, a good day even with all this hassle.

Now sat with a glass of house red waiting for a steak kebab at Madeira in Cardiff.

What good cover you have, they brought you a car there and then?
I have the top rac cover but no hire car, they take you to your destination or put you in a room for the night

Thank You Andy for a great evening/track day. The Chocolate cakes Tess made were even better. my only complaint was might need a napkin, which sticky chocolate fingers.

I think the weather tricked us all. The track got even better later in the day.

Chris glad you have got a bed for the night. You could have booked in at the George, Thursday was a quiet night shot guns etc, Disco Tonight, it would manic??

Just want to say thanks to everyone who went, especially Andy for organising it and inviting us. it was a really good day and me and ross had a great time. Think i got my new car at just the right time to be able to test it out properly but i think i might be using the warranty a bit sooner than i thought, the 'wobble' i noticed on the way down seems to have got worse and the brakes are nowhere near as good as they were on thursday, the pedal goes pretty much to the floor before it does anything now. Think the front left tyre will probably need changing soon aswell but its all part of the fun :D Thanks for the ride in your M3 aswell Andy, it was good to go round with someone who knew what they were doing and your advice with the corners made it even better when i went out in my own car again afterwards. Hopefully some of our video is worth watching from the camera we borrowed off a mate for the day aswell. The only annoying thing was the hazard lights flashing on the Giulietta when you brake hard. its supposed to be a safety feature for the road but it was annoying on the track :ohh:

Hope your car is back on the road again soon chris and its nothing too serious

Thanks again everyone,

Larne

Great offer Andy, but got to Cardiff around 9 and decided I couldn't drive any more. Sounds like I would have woken you up if I had called round!

Can recommend the Madeira - the kebab was six large chunks of meat (pork, steak or chicken...or fish if inclined) that they grill then hang on a huge skewer from the ceiling over your table and melt garlic butter so it drips down over the meat. The steak one was perfectly cooked, soft and juicy. The only catch was the seven birthdays going on, each with a sing-song and some traditional portugese percussion, it was fun at first, but seven in one night!?

Hope your car is an easy fix chris, my audi lost reverese, 1st 3rd and fifth gear on the drive back. Could not be bothered with the aa. Had a quick look under and nothing loose so likely gear fork selector in box gone (common it appears and box out).
Thanks again to andy for organising
