I have full confidence in my fellow Scots to say NO to the nonsense and stay within the mighty UK. At least I think I do. Otherwise I may have to move south.

Amsterdam to somewhere between Tubingen and Konstanz on the Wednesday Christophe, then on to Modena through various passes and tunnels on the Thursday. Heading down the West of Germany past Cologne, Frankfurt etc.

Tuesday AM ferry for us Enzo. I have a wedding in Scotland on the Sunday so can't make the trip down until Monday. Overnight stay around Dover perhaps with Allan or others that are on the same crossing. My German friends are aware of the potential meet too from their forum so looks like a plan at this stage.

hi outrun think your looking to go from Newcastle now but will still like to join up with you and our Germany friends, as Dover is closer I will look to go this way. also think once LeMans is over the forum is going to release details on the trip so will wait to see what news we get

Right chaps...

After speaking with Barth (French forum) and Mac (German forum), there's a proposal for a multinational day in Modena, hopefully ensuring we get >100 cars together for an entire day.

The suggestion is for Saturday:

Visit to the Panini Museum, where Giovanni Panini will receive us, and provide a buffet lunch...

Followed by a visit to the Casa Enzo Ferrari, where we will be parked immediately in front of the museum, providing a huge Maserati tribute to the great man...

For the late afternoon/early evening, we are making final agreements for the use of a local facility, where cars will be allowed/encouraged to stretch their legs :)

And finally, a Grand Dinner (fixed price menu) in the Europa 92 restaurant in Modena, which has been tested several times and found to be rather excellent by our very discerning French cousins.

Does that meet with any approval?

D.

Drew - very nice, thank you for this - please count me in

I've probably been blind and not previously noticed, but I've just seen that the Maserati site now has different sections covering the different official events and packages available (i.e. Alfieri Package, Fans Packages, and V4 Experience Packages): http://www.maserati100.co.uk/gathering-packages-overview.html
The site is a bit glitchy (well on my laptop anyway) as I have to touch each image (on my touchscreen) to access the content. i.e. if I try and use the mouse and click on the image it doesn't work!

There's been quite a few changes to the costs of the packages e.g. the Alfieri package now 'only' costs €3900 for 2 people or €2200 for one person (with a car). Having said that, that's not too bad considering it includes "all food and accommodation expenses (4-star hotel)" etc.

I'll spend most (or maybe all) of my time with you Sports Maserati mob (seen as you are such a great bunch LOL), but I'd like to get involved in 1 or 2 of the official activities as well. Hence maybe the Fan Packages etc. may be of more benefit to us SM mob. Maserati have published a Fan Programme, so this may be where we all try and get involved in the official events in some shape or form(?)
N.B. I can team up with someone if people want to split costs (as based on the previous comm's on here, some of them seem to be based on 2 people sharing.) Anyone interested?
N.B. Fan Packages can only be purchased from 05/06/2014 until midnight on 22/06/2014!

I'm trying to extract the info from the website and compile it into a separate workbook which makes it easier to access/read (yes I really am that sad!). I'll post it once it's finished.

Cheers,
T

EDIT: Hmmmm, not too sure about the Fan Packages now:-
HERITAGE Package / Bologna (Wed 17 Sept), €150 - Basically access to see the 'participating' cars in Piazza del Nettuno, get a souvenir photo of the Neptune trident, and guided tour of Maserati's first workshop.
CREATION Package / Modena (Thur 18 Sept), €240 - Basically a tour of the Maserati Modena factory, but with a "walking dinner experience"!
POWER Package / Cremona (Fri 19 Sept), €850 - Basically some on track time with Maserati's 'professional' training drivers at the San Martino del Lago circuit and lunch.
DESIGN Package / Turin (Sat 20 Sept), €125 - Basically access to the Concours d’Elegance (in Piazza San Carlo), inc. presentation book (describing the participant cars), Voting Card (right to vote for the cars taking part), access to the Concours awards ceremony, and Maserati Centennial Gathering commemorative gifts.
LIFESTYLE BOX Package, €650 - "A special Maserati Centennial Gathering travel set, to offer participants a unique, exclusive look with the Maserati name." So probably a Maserati t-shirt, cap, dressing gown, towel, and a little travel bag?!?

V4 EXPERIENCE / Cremona (Fri 19 Sept), €1100 - The circuit of San Martino del Lago, will be the backdrop to an exciting test reserved for single-seater racing cars. Participants can take free laps around the track with their cars and experience the thrill of speed in a special location for Maserati’s history... A circuit pass and appropriate car numbered badge will be allocated to each participant.
So this basically sounds like a track day in a Maserati V4, with lunch included. (Not sure how many laps though!)

What are other people's thoughts on this?
I like Drew's proposal for the Saturday 20th Sept (ref. #1460), but I'd also like to get involved in one of the official events, but not sure what, if at all(!) ...:frusty5:

There will now no longer be a charge proposed to view the cars on Thursday in Piazza Grande in Modena :)

The cars should be gathering there all day, culminating in a mass departure at 6pm, onto the Maserati factory where they will all park for the night. That being the case, I'd suggest people intending to arrive on Thursday get there by late afternoon, to check in the hotel and saunter down to the Piazza!

Had a good chat with Barth from the French Maserati forum this afternoon, after he had scared my neighbour witless with a short demonstration of what 400bhp is like, compared to his Touran :)

He came fresh from Milan, having attended a Maserati gathering there, and having held a meeting with the Italian Maserati club. It seems the factory have completed blocked the Italian club from participating in anything - all the organisation has been handed out to a PR company.

Lots of possibilities for us to work out some interesting things together though, and I can now reveal the 'facility' I mentioned earlier - this will be the use of the Autodromo di Modena, a very nice track just a couple of miles outside Modena. It has been booked for 20 days in September by a local Manufacturer, but considering the make of car we are bringing, they are willing to step aside to allow us the use of the same on Saturday - late afternoon/early evening slot looks best, then on to dinner straight after. Costs depend on how many people we can get involved, clearly the more people take up the event, the lower the cost will be per car. We are aiming at ~25..30 euros per car, which should allow plenty of track time for all who might want it.

Any takers?

Have to say its pretty shocking that the brand has permitted this to happen...talk about alienating your fan base...I guess this is the direction they think they have to take to build up to this 50k sales per year...it's all about the new buyers.

Still I am sure the fringe events will be far more interesting.

I'm getting deluded with Maserati. Overpriced parts, overpriced events, overpriced clothing. You cannot possibly raise residual prices by claiming exclusivity yet come out with a diesel v6 ghibli aimed at 5-series for the mass market. I'm still up for the trip but I'll be paying very little attention to 'official Maserati' bull$hit'. I'm going to show the Mrs, Europe. I suppose Maserati will have cleaned out the Panini museum too. If I was a money grabbing commercial dept, I would and charge a fortune to show off what is otherwise free.
