Maserati Centenary Trip

The main problem is being sure we have somewhere to stay as a group, to try and get 25 / 30 rooms in one place is not that easy and if we don't get the decision made, we could be split up all over the place. I know we are all grown ups and can manage on our own, but it would be nice to be in some sort of group on this trip and hotels are a part of it..!!

I agree totally, but was not prepared to risk waiting any later, particularly since many (most) seemed to be traveling on the Monday anyway.
I totally agree as well - to me the drive over there, the people we'll be travelling with, the evening meals and hotels we'll be staying in on route are a huge part of the holiday for me. If I didn't feel comfortable spending time with you all I would have travelled straight there on my own. But you SM bunch are so welcoming and friendly and am looking forward to hanging out together, enjoying good food and sharing our passion for Maserati :D

Oh I agree totally. Thing is we couldn't keep re-arranging plans to go with the majority, and driving that many cars along the same route posed some serious logistical issues as well. I like the group we have, and we're picking up en route as well :D

Walkie Talkies

I don't know about you guys, but we use Mitex General UHF radios on SCD convoys to keep in touch. They really are great - long battery life, simple to use, good range, not stupidly expensive,...
A twin pack can be bought from Maplin for £150, so if you team up with someone when getting them, they are only £75 each:- http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/mitex-general-5w-uhf-radios-2-pack-a68jx

Using these is miles easier than to try and keep in contact via mobile phones etc when driving in convoy as any instructions can be heard by the entire group, and you don't have to worry about dialling individual people's numbers. N.B. If you want to have private or seperate conversations with other members, you can always just switch to one of the other channels.

Sound like a plan?

Shouting?!?

TBH they have proved invaluable on convoys and are great for when we hold other meets or organised drives

T

Yah, but for something that I'll use maybe twice, that's nearly a tank of fuel. There are cheaper PMR's around which will probably do. Maybe.....

Sorry to hear that Paul.

I'm also ill at the moment, but my condition has been improving, so hopefully I will be fine for September. If not, I'll just have to be careful and try and take it easy each day, as I really don't want to miss out on this.

Maybe we can have some kind of SportsMaserati meet-up in the UK later in the year which by then hopefully you will be well enough to attend.

Hope your health improves.

All the best,
T

I knew you'd and your MC Stradale would be up for it ;)
The MC handles sooooo differently to the standard GT/GC... I for one can vouch that it handles really quite well on track (considering the size of it!).
