No matter which side of the debate you sit on, the sacking of Masi is a clear signal that he didn't do his job therefore the title is forever tainted.

Next season looks interesting with all the changes, I think the Ferrari and the McLaren both look well developed. Maybe we will see a real shuffle of the teams, at least while other catch up to those that have maximised the changes, just as Brawn did all those years ago.

For what it's worth, I don't care what happened last season, they are all overpaid primadonnas and I can't shed a tear for any of them. On the plus side, the mayhem and the Netflix shows have boosted the global viewers and that's a good thing in my eyes.

Bring it on, I hope it's as exciting as it may be.

Is there a new series of Drive to survive for last season? I looked a month of so ago and they appear to have stopped.

Brilliant series

No thing as bad publicity, it has all boosted viewers, interest etc. The title has had many many controversial decisions over the years. Personally I found last year's controversy the most interesting thing to have happened in about the last 5 years!

I am going to give DTS a skip... I watched nearly every session last year including free practice, it adds little other than sensationalism which there was enough of in the 2021 season.

I'm looking forward to testing.

I have a sneaky suspicion that Alpine will be in the mix for a few podiums this season. They should be the team closest to the leading 3 (of Merc, Red Bull and Ferrari).

And I keep finding myself looking at adverts for A110’s. Only to then think at the price (circa £50k), surely a second hand 911 is better.

The Alpine is a very compelling car and we have a dealer in Scotland which helps. When I ordered the 911 I had looked at the A110 and the waits were not too bad so I would go new with the dark blue colour. Second hand 911 prices are nuts IMHO but I am now in the Porsche blackhole when I have no idea on whether estimated delivery means anything so I have started finding autotrader again. The V8 F Type keeps catching my eye largely for sound which is epic - one overtook me recently.

New rules? Last season they didn't even know how to apply the existing ones!

Is there a new rule that stops Verstappen being allowed to drive other people off the road whenever he fancies? That's the rule we need. Plus a manager at the top with the balls to actually apply the rules consistently.
Let me finish your sentence.

I expect Mike Webb to be poached from MotoGP. A very fair handed and level headed man. He used to race 250cc bikes too.

For those who don't follow MotoGP , this is him explaining the rules, in this case Track Limits. This is something that F1 slipped up on; no visibility of the Race Director.

Part of the problem last season was the lack on consistency with the interpretation and implementation of the rules. Whether that's a problem with the wording of the rules, or just the people employed to use them, I'm genuinely not sure. But certainly, in the final minutes of the final race, Massi appeared to buckle under the pressure, and for that reason, had to go.

I do think it should be more than one person's responsibility, the ban on teams contacting the race director is a good step, but I digress, in my eyes LH lost the championship by the team not pitting him after MV did, he was quick enough to do to MV what MV did to him, Mercedes bottled it and played it safe by not wanting to give up track position in my eyes.

If Merc pitted him after Max he’d have rejoined in about 10th place.

They could take a leaf from endurance and maintaining the gap under full course yellow.

And they were allowed to unlap themselves? Still say Merc screwed up.

A couple of them were. Merc made the corrrct decision as did Red Bull.

Back to this season for the first time since Eddie Irvine, I’m hoping Ferrari have brought a decent car as they’ve got the two drivers I want to see do well.
