I'd think the legal fees would wipe out any profits on relatively low value items but if you sold a painting for €50 and it turned out to be worth €10m there's a way back

What surprised me was when the French legal expert said a UK court could enforce French law and return the painting should it be genuine

You'd be safe from jail at 92 years old and in frail health. And especially if you agree to pay £653M in back-tax and fines.

Yes, he's been a bit of an idiot over this, but just think of the amount of tax income he's generated for the nation over his lifetime, both personally and through his bunsiesses (F1, etc). Billions. So thank you for all that money, Bernie.

The article I read said £250 million since 1990.. I think that was his own contribution.

I hadn’t read the article, but my hops were a disaster this year and so I didn’t harvest any. I’m part of a local brewing network in the town. I should delete my laughter emoji above! Is that the modern equivalent of eating one’s words?
