There were times when i went back and did my 2nd stint 1978 through to 81 (revolution years ) that i felt like doing the same , hence i was moved from Tehran up near the Caspian sea to Rasht working on a plant up there, mind you it was full of rebels up there who were more concerned about the Russians trying to get in than a lowly but well tanned brit with a beard

Typically mates called me shaggy akin to scooby dooooooooooooo type of beard



To be frank Matt , it was really about being lazy and fitting in with the surroundings nothing glamourous or intrigueing, just less hassle when i happened to go out socially, where i worked obviously everyone knew i was an expat , but they were loyal to the company ( my mates dads owned it ) and kept it quiet , in the villages it was best to keep as low profile as poss especially after the Yanks screwed up their farcical rescue mission and lost a few helicopters along with around 50 crewman/marines, never went out for over a month after that ,
