As I think you know, I own a property right opposite the Hotel de France in La Chartre and will be there from the Thursday to the Tuesday.

As it’s a pared down event this year with no pit lane or drivers parade Friday, I’m only going to the circuit for the Sat start and will stay to watch a bit of night racing near Tetre Rouge to about midnight.

Friday and also Sunday’s finish will this be in the bar at the HdeF, which usually has a fantastic party atmosphere with great cars in the square and many ex drivers and other VIP’s in attendance. They are really struggling for staff this year tho, so service may be chaotic if it’s as busy as usual.

if any of this coincides with the SM group itinerary, I would be delighted to meet up :)

Let's see if the paths coincide.

If so, I would suggest a stop at Le manoir de la Possonnière which seems to breathe till today the vibes of Pierre de Ronsard' poems

Contrary to what we all feared, the day is nearly upon us. Most prep done. Car is cleaned and ready to rock, destinations plugged into Waze, forms filled in, Covid tests bought, French Covid app installed. There's been more to wade through than normal this year, but I think we've nailed it. Just need to pick up a couple of things in town, wash some clothes, fill the car with petrol and I'm all set.

I have done feck all with the exception of bunging the Strad on the lift for a once over and cleaning the inside. I’m usually so organised

Other than giving the cars a check, washing 'em, chucking some grundies and socks in a bag and making sure you can remember your pin codes I'm not sure there's much to do.

Well, other than the paperwork, the vaccinations, the tests, the app, more paperwork, another test for afterwards and the face masks.

You'll be missed, Sam. I just suppose we'll have to find someone else to get drunk seeing as the Sacrificial Scaf won't be there (until next time).
