I'm getting in touch to apologise for what was a wasted journey for you to Dunsfold today. I am sorry that you did not gain entry to see Top Gear, we appreciate all the efforts that our audience make and I assure you it is not taken for granted.
I'd like to to briefly explain how our booking system works - unfortunately we do have to overbook on our ticket allocation to every show (the ticket is not a guarantee of entry, and this is outlined in the ticket terms and conditions). This is because a significant proportion of tickets sadly always go unused. We work on the statistics of turnouts that we have collated over the last 20 years, across many TV and radio shows, and have to approximately determine how many tickets will be used when we book up a show. Other factors such as seasonal changes in the weather and also traffic or transport issues are also taken into account. It isn't an exact science so unfortunately there are instances where we have to regrettably turn people away once the capacity is full. We are occasionally full before - or very close to - the door opening time. This is because some ticket-holders arrive and queue earlier than our advertised door times.
I have put a note on the system, under your account, so that for your next booking we will reserve your entry to the show with Priority tickets. These tickets DO guarantee your entry (up until a cut-off point), so that for your next trip you will not have to worry about not getting in. Note that the call time for guaranteed entry will be different to the general public, so please check this on any future bookings. I do hope that you will come back next time with guaranteed tickets.
If you do have any outstanding bookings with us, please let me know and we will endeavour to upgrade the tickets. We will also be in touch when we have news regarding future recordings of Top Gear for which you can book priority tickets.
