Sounds pretty expensive...would say it's a road car that has been tuned for the track...

Looks like a race series special, like the Alfa 156 Super 2000 that they built exclusively for privateers ion the Super 2000 series, they extensively did wind tunnel testing on a new rear wing (the one that looks like a pram handle) which gives much better stability at speed, there was a limited run of these cars too which are also worth quite a bit of coin.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_2000#Touring_cars

They were quite a bit different to the works Superturismo though iirc, I have pics of my car with Fabrizio Giovarnardis 156 Supertouring.

Not sure...
Engstler is a racing driver, and there are engstler tuning shops, which is probably why this has a number 201...
I guess it could be a limited run, but as the ad says, this has never been raced so not sure.

There's been other race spec cars come up before now that haven't been raced, could have been somebodys backup car and never used. Suppose best way to find out a more precise history is contact the seller.

Not that bothered really...somebody has been enjoying it, after all, it has done 57,000 miles,
just not on the track

Does say it was imported so maybe it was a special edition celebrating the racing drivers win and only sold in another country?

Franz Engstler won the German Touring car class 2 championship in 1993 in a 155...
my guess is this is a marketing spin off from that.

I posted up a thread about it on AO, one chap said he was looking at buying a similar car in Italy a few years ago, he said if it's what he thinks it is it's pretty special with things like a billet block amongst the modifications.

Still, rare or not 33k is a bit steep for a car that wasn't that loved when it came out......................I did as I had two 155's.

Never had one but a friend has a 155 skinny twinny and it's surprisingly quick, gave my 3 series coupe a run for its money the other month on the way home from northern italian car night in brighouse
I was well impressed.
