Anniversary trip 2014

As many of you know 2014 is the 100th anniversary of Maserati; and of course this is a dam good reason for a celebration.

So how could this be done in a style befitting the mark we all love?

How about a nice road trip taking in all that’s good about Italy?
The lakes, the food, the drive down to northern parts of Italy and of course the alpine roads on route.

So may I suggest a week [after the summer school holidays] at the Hotel Dino near Stresa with a trips to the Factory in Modena, day in Milan, and time to relax and enjoy the local areas and famous garden islands on Lake Maggiore.

http://www.expedia.co.uk/Lake-Maggi...fcid=expe.uk.001.000.1466869.16917248&rm1=a2& Great hotel, in-door and out-door pools, on the side of the lake, large underground car park, ferry from the gardens...and 1/2 the price of Como.

These are just ideas at the moment and I already know of two other couples who have said yes...any more takers?

I'd be up for that for sure. Done a couple of European runs this year, so will cool it in 2013, but I can't think of anything better than to celebrate the centenary with a trip to the factory.

Maserati must be planning something to mark this?

The official 100 year date is December, but that's too close to Christmas, snow and the cold.

Might be wise to leave it flexible and see what the Italians/Factory may have planned. But sounds like a plan in the making.

I'll drop the owners club and James at GP Nottingham an email to see whether they know of anything Maserati might be planning.

Ok, as many of you will have a bit of time over the holidays to soften up your personal bankers....

This really ought to be forums finest hour, I think we should really plan BIG, plan early and plan well...

Let's see if we can (with the club perhaps) make it 100 cars for 100 years!!!!

I have been mulling this over in my head and I'd like to suggest the following as a framework:

Satuday 6th Sunday 7th September 2014 is likely to be the Goodwood revival so we can kick things off there...

Sunday 7th o'night for long distance arrivals Surrey/kent

Monday 8th Assemble somewhere like Tunbridge Wells & wake up the neighbourhood! And a blast down to Eurotunnel, as has been suggested we could look for a sponsored and dedicated train!

Ex Calais in mini convoys It has been suggested previously trying to keep more then 5 cars together is near impossible... for overnight in Switzerland?

Tuesday 9th a day of alpine passes; midweek they shouldn't be too clogged... ending in Northern Italy o'night perhaps setting ourselves up at the lakes?

Wednesday 10th a lazy day adjusting to the accent and cleaning the beauties!

Thursday 11th a day dedicated to Maserati at the factory hopefully encouraged and welcomed by the factory...

Friday 12th Forum party at the lakes big BBQ etc.

Saturday 13th Oops... Qualifying for the Monza F1 GP

Sunday 14th Monza F1 GP

Monday on... mini convoys home by any number of routes, back to passes, Monaco, down to Rome....

Although its a long way off, I will register a sliver of interest. I don't know what I'm doing next week never mind two years off!

Yes it does look very tempting, we were planning to try and get over the latter part of this year, but health issues stopped that. Sounds an interesting agenda, lot's of driving..!! I would be totally amazed if we could get 100 members to actually turn up for this, but let's give it a go, it would be a magnificent sight. Be prepared for Maserati giving us the cold shoulder and charging for anything involving them..??

I'm definitely up for this, though I'd leave the dates loose at the moment. I've made enquiries with the club and also the dealerships / Indi's who are all saying something is in the planning at Maserati SpA, but they don't know what yet.

As soon as I hear anything more concrete back I'll post it so we can begin to plan.

Are you happy managing the finances side Miles as you seem to have the knack and trust of the forum in this respect?
