We shall have to see. The point is with the 1m plus that the risk of passing it on is greatly reduced. 3 cases so far.
@spkennyuk any idea how many pubs opened in the UK on Saturday?
There was always going to be cases of people going to pubs and then testing positive afterwards.
C
No verified numbers yet but around 50% in England opened. Which equates to 25k plus.
Out of the three pubs that have closed again.
One case is confirmed tested positive however factor in the incubation period and they certainly contracted it before going to the pub. If they were showing any symptoms before hand is another matter. If they were then they shouldnt have been out let alone at a pub or shops and the like.
2nd case i hear is somebody who was on site at the pub but not a customer in the pub. So its either a staff member, a contractor or somebody living on site. If i hear anything more i will let you know the exact details.
3rd case is on the face of it a strange one. There has been a telephone claim to the pub in question that a person has covid. As it stands it has not been confirmed and the pub has closed for a deep clean as a precaution.
One of the flaws in the system as it stands is that pubs should in my view get an official notification in some form. Either a verified call from the NHS track and trace team or a visit from the police / call from the police.
2nd flaw is that the pubs should supply the information to NHS track and trace should a case be confirmed so that again its an official traceable source of notification. One of the pubs is contacting their own customers to let them know.
Sadly all it takes at the moment is either somebody with a grudge, somebody seeking attention or your typical 999 hoax caller to set off a chain reaction of events that could quite easily cause unnecessary stress and worry to customers and staff and further damage businesses and the economy.
I am sure there will be cases going forwards where pubs will need to close and people go into isolation because person B caught it from person A in the pub.
The cases reported so far have been people having it and then visiting a pub which can only mean the social distancing and preventative measures taken by those individuals for some reason failed. I'm not suggesting it is their fault by that statement. Simply that the measures taken failed.
The worst case scenario for anybody in the pub trade at the moment is having sombody test positive who lives and works on site. However if they have done a covid risk assesment they should have a plan in place should that occur.
