Checked again... Google was basing that time on Friday morning traffic... could / should be an easy 90 minutes early on a Saturday morning? If we resolve to leave AT 6.30 and reckon on a steady 80 we should be ok. Depending on the route it's a few miles either side of 100 miles.

Shall we meet 6.15 on the basis that we're pulling out of the carpark by half-past?

Should be good enough Adam, last year we all met up at the hotel and drove up in convoy with a refuelling stop en-route which was quite hilarious seeing 8 Maseratis all being precious.... we were in plenty good time for the 'briefing' which I recall was to the 'gate keepers' who were supposed to disseminate down to the drivers before the 'sighting' lap that was more of a blind sprint!

All, if you want to get there fresh on Saturday donthe over night at the Hinkley Island hotel..£55 I believe and John has said he has now organised separate parking for Maserati. It has its own barrrier as well and room for 30 cars.....

Enzo, they space them adequately is the best response, something around 20 seconds. There were a few occasions I caught the car in front before the straight but you can pass on the straight only. It really wasn't a problem and I got passed by the GT40 on one lap but he was storming!

If there is a problem at all it is remembering that you can encounter traffic around the two last corners after the straight. This is where the lorries and JCB'S have to cross over.

hi you lot
its brunty john
how about we give you lot a double gate , so now you can have twelve cars out at any time ,you will have to go at the bottom , about gate 10, but the punters will be all over you , everyone is so excited to see 29 maserati's all together, by the way , i have arranged at the hotel for you all to have your own car park , when you arrive at the hotel , you have to go through a barrier , if you look to the left you will see a car park for thirty cars , its all your's, and will be coned off for you on the thursday night , so it will be empty for the friday night, a great photo opertunaty and i think and a good you tube video as well ,
mail me if is what you lot would like to happen ,

Newton - ~20sec seems OK - about 200 cars an hour, I was watching video of GTR Ultima overtaking everything insight, and a 3200 (I think) - looks like its going to be a great day, looking forward to it - won't be pushing to the limits but a little fun will be needed :)

"This is where the lorries and JCB'S have to cross over" - they are doing what! won't most cars breaks be fading by this time - will provide a little entertainment

i did have a hairy moment with a TVR having a panic attack mid corner with an artic, just went past both, its OK as its mid corner and you can judge it. What you cant judge is the way some people brake far too early, and a kit car emptying its fuel tank in the chicane!

all good fun

It's worth thinking about.

Fellow Essex / N. London convoyees - I'm easy either way. If a concensus feels hotel and a later start is preferable that suits (we can still convoy up the evening before) or a dawn chorus of Masers waking up the neighbours is equally good. Either way I want to be rested for Saturday - no room for mistakes!

Hmmm, I suppose I'll be doing plenty of driving that day anyway so the idea of an evening spent chewing the fat with forum guys or another silly hours wake up when I finally have a chance for a lie-in...the hotel is sounding more interesting by the minute!

I must admit, my thoughts are erring the same way...

Newton and Catman... your thoughts?

I have a lot of work to do on my car before the day so I'm not going to book the hotel just in case I cannot finish them all. I'm also good with early starts, I do 4am starts once or twice most weeks.

I'm quite tempted by the hotel idea, especially at that cost. The thought of trying to get my 12 year old daughter ready in time to leave from home fills me with dread!

My boys would be out the door in time, no problem. They wouldn't have cleaned their teeth, would have forgotten their trousers and would still have their duvets wrapped round them, mind you...

Which of you are planning to take families?

I took my middle lad last year and he loved it but this year I may well bring all the three youngest (mind you the youngest is 12).

Newton, you are truly blessed!

I'll see if my lot fancy it but suspect that cricket may win out, for the youngest at least.

I decided to take the opportunity for a "lie-in" and booked the Hinckley Island hotel for Friday night. The little one wakes us up most days between 3 and 5am, so any respite is welcome...now I can set an alarm for 6.30 and it'll feel like a luxury.

Looking forward to a beer or two - but no more - the night before. A clear head is going to be the order of the day, I think.
