Soooooo

I have a list of cars that I'd quite like to own. And I should be able to buy one of in the next job iteration. Budget is £35k totally top. £30k is what I can get past the expenses committee but there are ways.....

Currently short list:

DB9 V12
Bentley GT Speed
Granturismo MC shift (worried that if I bought one of these, I'd never buy any of the others)

Two questions:
Why would I not add an R8 (other than it's an Audi)

What else might I look at? No 911s please. Had one as a loaner. Hated it.

C
similar listing as me predictably for this forum. Always fancied NSX but these have taken off, unless you can accept silver auto NSX?

never like the looks of an Evora seen out on the road, but maybe worth another look. This red one is quite nice. No idea who might use the rear seats though. I just assumed it was 2 seater!

Gosh that thread accelerated quickly! Wonderful fun spending somebody else's money, on cars, better again! I'd have to say the MC Shift, utter bonkers bargain of a car. I believe you had a 4.3 auto before (??) so this will feel nicely different. Spacers, a nice Larini, and even some lighter seats up front, and you could personalize it too.

Maybe nobody mentioned it, but don't buy the Audi. You know why (zzzzzzzzzzz). No, seriously though, I saw and drove 4 before the strad. made an offer on one too. Read the servicing horror stories (engine out to change the ever busting AC compressor, mag-ride shocks eating themselves etc) and combine that with being boring on the inside (beautiful, but dull) and I wouldn't do it. The V10 on the other hand has less servicing issues, and is bonkers. But probably 50% more than a MC Shift. In the R8's favour, in person, they look out of this world. Funnily, no idea why, they seem to look bad photographed.

YMMV

Mate just handed back his M2 CP after 8 months, found it boring!
I think the reality being too hard a ride as a daily, and his GF hated riding in it!

Didn’t like my M3 even with the dampers in the softest setting it was way too hard. I reckon the dealers had a special route for test drives with the smoothest roads they could find.

For the majority of the time you might as well have been in a 320d you really couldn’t tell the difference. Plus I made the mistake a listening to the hype and having a manual.

Nice as the granturismo is will it be different enough from the last one , I’d be reluctant to own the same car twice .
there really isn’t much choice at 35k on autotrader , put in coupe ,35k and fast and it’s mostly ,mustang, continental,R8 & DB9

f type Is in budget though746527465374654

Best car I have ever owned but they aren't cheap these days.....You need 50k plus these days for a good one

Alpina make a nice alternative to the M3 - softer but just as quick and stonking value for money. If an M3 I would look for a CS which is a good compromise between M3 and M3 CSL

The RC-F is a quality piece of kit. Totally bulletproof build and a great NA engine.
Nearly bought an ISF a few years back.

You know the car is not going to surprise you with any big bills when Lexus will put a 2 year Lexus warranty on a 10 year old one for £995.......... so long as it has done less than 120,000 miles!

(edit - the ISF is only 795 for 2 years, the rcf is 995)

Check out the prices of an M/AMG once just the initial 3 year warranty has run out, never mind Maserati!

QPV Sport GT S... like the one Dicky had up for sale recently, but sold in about a week. That was up for £32k or so IIRC, and legend has it that he'll have another one for sale soon... practical - tick, exciting - tick, exotic marque - tick, mental noise - big tick. Tick tick tock :D
