As I'm sure a lot of you have, I've been lucky enough to get some good seat time in Ferraris - 348, 355 Spider, 360 Spider Fi, 456 and a 550. Personally, I didnt feel much love for the 348 (nearly put it in a ditch within 30 seconds of getting in it!) or the 456 (again, not a good start).

The 355 was great fun, but only drove that for around 2-300 miles. The 360 was epic. Simply loved the sound and the the way the whole car just made you feel. For me though, the 550 was in a different league. I loved the fact that it was so anonymous (how the **** do you spell that?) - I drifted in and out of traffic with no one really noticing, and it drove out of this world. If you wanted to, you could drive it in 3rd gear everywhere - superb engine. Just superb, all around.

I've not driven a 575 but if the numbers came in, I'd be getting a 575 F1 over just about anything else. Of course, the GS comes first.

The above is what lead me to the GS - I reckon its as close as you can get to a 4 seater 575 F1, with added rarity and anonymity. What could be better?

He also said the Gallardo was a stunning car which handled like a Lotus Elise ... A few years later he said it's handling was edgy and didn't handle that well. Also remember him driviing a Lotus Esprit S4 and saying it was brilliant only to say it wans't that good two years later ..

355 is one of the best proprtioned Ferraris made .. It's just so beautiful .. Not driven one but would imagine its slow by todays standard...and thats against ordinary performance machines.

IMO, if you bought a 355 expecting it to be fast, by todays standards, you've missed the point. All sorts would whoop it on performance, build quality, durability, and on and on....but how many could match the achingly beautiful looks, the heritage...and that sound!? It not how fast you get there, it how much you enjoy the journey :)

355 aint slow, been in about 5 different examples including a road legal challenge version, 0-60 in 5 seconds, you have to really rev it as the power is at the top end but it shifts when it climbs past 7000 rpm.

Not slow Adam but not fast by todays standard .. My 10 year old M5 is quicker off the mark ... and this is a heavy four door ... Not puttong the car down Adam as I love them but technology and time will always make them feel from a different time.

Didnt twig you had an M5 Andy. Above comment re the 550 being sublime, the only car to come close to it for all round enjoyment was the M5 I ran - 2000 W plate. Just an imense car, you're a lucky fella if you've got a good one. Cracking.

yeah andy has a nice m5 woody judging by the pictures.

No the 355 would not be as quick as your m5 andy, but the 355 is such a good all rounder.

I have a 2000 W Le Mans Blue 57k on the clock... It's a good one.
Blimey, its not even run in! I had a silverston blue one - absolutely loved that colour. Had what I think was a very rare option of double glazed windows too! Was quite a conversation starter....

the 355 was the last of the ferrari cars of that time...its 4.5sec to 60 is still quick for me and the sound...ohhh that sound even standard is worth looking into...for me has to be a spyder
