Your household insurance is likely to cover you for making claim, which may not be highest on your priority list right now, but given the fecker hit and ran, you should have now qualms about going after them.

It's quite shocking how many are willing to leave another human for dead to save their own skin, drunk , uninsured or no licence, if they don't get a prison sentence there really is no justice but at least they've been caught
