I had just the best track day on Friday, what a turn out, and so lucky with the weather too. Yesterday was freeeezing by comparison. I must say, all the Maseristi I got to meet are just the best kind of people.
I've not been driven around by such a lot of driving talent in one day either. Didn't feel nervous with any of the 5 that I passengered with, and that's saying something.
So a
big thanks to:
Phil, who took me out in the RS. I've know Phil for years, and he's competed at a top level in a sport that requires huge guts, but a big dose of smooth accuracy, or it quickly ends in tears, and his driving skills were just the same, really enjoyed the RS, can see why that chassis is highly regarded. Very much 'in the right hands' there Phil.
Rob, who'd not driven a Mas before or flappy paddles, got to grips with mine and by the second time out had it all sorted and gave me a great passenger ride in my own car, very smooth (unlike mine!) and perfect lines. He's also got some pics, sure he'll post shortly.
Dom, an awesome ride in the Caterham 7, what a car! What a driver! Grinned like a child all the way! The speed sensation was so different, and SO much grip, though Dom knows how to waggle it's tail. This time next year, I'm sure will see me with one of those, perfect for what I have in mind. Have toyed with getting one of those before and is everything I thought it would be.
Paul. Thanks so much for ride in the GTS. Another car I fully intend to own one day, and that ride sealed it. What a truly capable car the GTS is. Hides it's weight so well. It and Paul made Llandow seem even tinier than than is.
Last but certainly not least, Andy!
Big up to Andy for organising the day, but also for his driving ability. NOW I know why I couldn't get close to him in what was a higher powered car last year! Great passenger ride in mine, but an spectacular ride in what is a really sorted GTV! I could be driven like that by Andy all day!
Cheers all, a day I'll always remember for all the best reasons
Oh and not for getting to thank Mad Chris, was looking forward to a blast out in the Porsche after last year's in the elise, but got the checkered flag after the warm up lap at the end of the day.. grrr. Next time!
