Looking for help finding my late Grandfather’s 4200 Cambiocorsa.

Hello, I am looking for help finding the current owner of my late Grandfather’s 4200 Cambiocorsa, registration KP54 JSV. I believe it has been changed to a private plate as no record on DVLA at present. It was sold in 2017 I believe, possibly to a member of the UK Owners Club from what I recall. It was my Grandfather’s last car and I was with him when he test drove and purchased, and it holds a lot of sentimental value to me. I would love to know where it is these days so if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. If the current owner were to ever want to sell the car I would love an opportunity to own the car, or alternatively just to visit for a cup of tea and see the car would be more than enough. What a lovely thought from a respectful grandson Jimmy , we'll do all we can im sure , perhaps the mods can make this a sticky for a while , or at least until its found

Thank you for your kind words and any help is greatly appreciated. My Grandfather, Norman, was my hero to say the least and I miss his wise words and company most days.

Nice story and I hope you can track the car down.

Might be worth contacting a few of the well known independents (who do most of the servicing) as they may know the car.

That made me laff , reminds me of a few years back , I used to conceal a couple of kilo's ( not brown or white powder ) in one of my many spare exhaust systems to my Landruiser, I would travel from my field compound to my transit camp in Juba , along the way we had a breakdown and got delayed at one of the many road blocks , I was late for my flight back to UK so didnt have time to swap over the silencer and came home leaving the truck in an open car park .
My stay in UK was elongated due to covid and low and behold when I finally returned back some 4 months later it was still inside as I left it.
Now I shudder to think of what would of happened had it got stolen lol

But seriously. I pieced it together from several different free car checks. Go to freecarcheck.co.uk and you will see that KP54JSV was changed to F1BLJ on the 8th Aug 2017. And it was taxed yesterday.

Hi All, thanks so much for your input - very much appreciated. I also saw the auction picture/ listing on Brightwells however it is not listed on any of the results so I assume it was sold outside of the auction. @Zep when I search DVLA for F1BLJ it is listed as a silver vehicle, whereas the car was blue - could this mean it is a different car or anomaly in the registration etc? Unfortunately I do not have any other pics of the car to add.

I can only conclude that they got it wrong when it was registered. There is some form for this with some coupes registered as spiders, CC cars registered as manuals. Frankly it’s amazing they spelt the make right all of the time. (Or did they).

It was originally registered at the Northampton DVLA office (KP prefix) and given that there is no local Maserati concession, it means that someone less familiar with the colour might have done the paperwork - and Argento Luna does look a bit silver in some lights.

But trust me, it’s your Grandfathers old car.

One last piece of info. The car in Scaf’s picture is a facelift 4200, with the revised Gransport like nose and horizontal slatted grill (@MarkMas) which means it is certainly one of, if not the first facelift car in the U.K.

Again, thank you. Amazing to learn more about the car. I've already concluded that if I can't own his car one day, I am definitely interested in owning a 4200!
