Well the time has come to start advertising the 4200, I love it to bits but it is stopping me from enjoying some more cars so alas it needs to go.
I am listing here first for two reasons, firstly someone might want to buy it! but probably more importantly to get some feedback before I put it on pistonheads etc..

I have decided to price it at what I think is a fair price considering the mileage I have not been able to find any others of this age with the full history at the same money. It owes me a bit more but I do not think it would sell at much more money.
I am very interested in perhaps swapping for a classic or another sports car or taking one in as part payment.

Anyway below is the full advert, if you can have a read back then if you have any feedback on it please let me know it would be appreciated. I will upload some more pictures once I get my head round my new phone!!

2004 Maserati Coupe 4200 Cambiocorsa

4.2 V8 Semi-Auto with F1 style paddle shift gear box.

Supplied new by PJ Evans in the West Midlands on 15/03/2004

The 4200 was the first of the “Ferrari†built Maserati's and the first to switch from the 3.2 twin turbo engine to the 4.2 390 bhp N/A Ferrari sourced engine, coupled with the CambioCorsa (race change) gearbox.

This is the face lifted version with the newer 18†7 spoke wheels. Finished in gorgeous Grigio Alfieri Paint with Black leather interior.

The exterior is in superb order it does have a couple of stone chips on the bonnet but nothing too major.

The interior is a wonderful place to be the black leather is in great condition, and all the various buttons and switches work as they should, including the built in SATNAV.

Mechanically it has been looked after with no expense spared, before me it was owned from new by the same family changing hands once from one brother to the other.

It comes with a Full Service history
01/04/2005 - 8403 miles -PJ Evans
20/12/2005 - 18902 miles - PJ Evans
12/06/2006 - 31233 miles - Stratstone
19/12/2007 - 47251 miles - Stratstone
23/01/2009 - 56260 miles - Nick Whale Maserati
12/07/2010 - 70551 miles - Graypaul
26/04/2011 - 79586 Miles - Graypaul
12/04/2013 - 91383 Miles - Grimaldi Engineering

Additional major work carried out include
30/01/2009 - 56265 miles - Nick Whale - New Steering Rack and Clutch.
12/07/2010 - 70550 Miles - Graypaul - Replaced front and rear discs and pads.
29/06/2012 - 87266 Miles - Ferrari Birmingham - Replaced Air Con pump and Belt.

I had the last service carried out with Grimaldi Engineering at the same time I had them carry out a full 4 wheel Geomerty. I have just had all the wheels refurbished so she is now looking and driving her best.

The MOT runs until March 22nd 2014 and the TAX until 31st August 2013.

The Clutch was last changed at 56265 I had this checked on the last service and although the computer reading was 90% worn they could not fault it and the F1 gear box is working perfectly so although it will need doing at some point for the foreseeable future it seems an unnecessary job.

Cash price £11495.00

However I would be very interested in swapping or taking a P/X as long as its something interesting!

I would be interested in a classic of some sort, maybe a air cooled Porsche or Lotus, any classic or sports car would be considered.

Any questions or if you would like to arrange an inspection or testdrive Please call or e-mail me on

I thought that was the best way I figure anyone looking at one probably knows what to look for.

Beautiful car: the best coloured interior too!

Obv v well cared for - the mileage would be offputting to some as would the clutch information, but I guess you've factored those issues into what seems a pretty decent asking price.

Yes the mileage will always be an issue for a lot of people I was in two minds about the clutch, but thought it was best to make buyers aware rather than them find out and it looking like I was hiding the info. The car drives really well when it was serviced they tried and tried to get any faults from the clutch but could not fault it. I think the price is about right it should not need any prep and unless someone buys it as a daily driver the clutch should be fine into next summer worst case.

I nearly went for the "best colour combination" line but I think it loses its impact when its in every other advert no matter what the colour!! however it is the best!!

Seems a fair price considering the mileage and clutch. Unfortunately, once the mileage goes over 60k it does seem to effect the cars more and more. I like the colour, may be worth cleaning the drivers carpet, painting seat bolster if it needs doing and generally giving the car a good clean.

All fair points brendan I noticed the drivers carpets after I uploaded the photo, might look at getting that sorted and taking some more. Car has been cleaned with in an inch of its life!! However between thunder and lightning and 30 degree weather it's hard to keep it that way.
I have now uploaded the ad to pistonheads as well with some additional photos. Also had a reply from someone I mailed yesterday about a air cooled Porsche they had for sale, he wants some more details on the 4200 so could be something on the cards.

Good luck with the sale Tony...

Thanks Andy,
Already ad a fair bit of interest, the idea of swapping for another car seems to be a good idea, so far I have two 911 (964) a 928 and something else very special to contemplate

Some lovely cars there....Always loved the 928 especially the last GTS ones......964 was a bit unloved for a while but starting to be a rather cherished model...Look forward to hearing what you end up doing.

I think all the air cooled ones are becoming sort after now, I was looking round one of the 964's yesterday and realised just how small they are compared to a modern 911 seems tiny, but can't help thinking it would be great fun around the twisty roads

I'd love. 928 jus to try :)
C

I think that's my problem so many cars I would like to try cars like the 928 appeal especially as at the moment they are still under valued in my opinion and in years to come when the values have risen I will be kicking myself I didn't get one at today's prices.

Before buying the Maser, I was on a hunt for a nice 928GT or GTS.
Travelled between Scotland and the south coast viwing many, but got so disappointed with cars described as immaculate, to find them far from. I was willing to spend up to £20k too.
Also the youngest are nearly 20 years old now, with many with mileages near and exceeding 100k.
Fortunately however this resulted in the price of 4200's dropping to affordable levels while I was looking, so in the end I got what I really wanted!
