No such luck, if you have a dodgy wheel speed sensor you will need a new wheel bearing

It was in fact Reluctorrings as mentioned at the beginning of this thread. Well done Mark ! Easily fitted. 1 Remove Drive Shaft 2 Remove old Ring ( I placed mine on the back of the vice and gave it a good smack with a hammer and cold chisel this loosened it so that it could be tapped of) Heat new ring and drop on....Refit Driveshaft

Sorry to be so slow with this, does it fit a GS? So I need a new wheel bearing and a phonic ring?

Hi Robert how is my old girl doing, still behaving in the sunshine?

The phonic rings are a 3200 only setup. The 4200/GS runs an in hub system that is not serviceable so means if the ABS sensor fails you have to replace the whole hub/wheel bearing unit. Price is about £500 but it's only an hours work to replace.

Hi Matt, the car is running well. But a big but , I have a ABS, MSR, Suspension CEL coming on intermittently ( ABS, MSR, Cruise Control stop working). When I turn off the ignitation and back on and drive forward they extinguish all systems then work? One trigger appears when I hit a pothole on right rear. I have been to my indy and it says a speed sensor but not which one? The interesting thing is that if I put it in Sport it the CEL is triggered less! The Indy said I more than likely needed a new hub but was looking for a less expensive solution.

Have you had the codes read and what we're they?

It coukd just be the weight has fallen off the lateral accelerometer in the near side front wing?

When the hub sensor fails the lights are usually on all the time and have to be cleared. When it comes on after an impact it's usually the accelerometer.

The speed sensors do fail so it probably is the hub.

Thanks Matt. The Indy code reader said it was a speed sensor. But I am confused that it only "fails" some of the time. But why would the suspension CEL come on also? I have not had a fuse problem. If it was the "block" in the suspension sensor would it be on permanently? And why the ABS ,MSR ?
I am just thinking out loud, hope you don't mind use you as my brains trust!
I can assure you the " old girl" has been kept immaculate.

Sounds like yours is failing the same way mine did. The wheel bearing develops play and this moves the magnetised part of the wheel bearing away from the sensor ring. It started off as the odd light and ended up coming on every time I pulled away after starting the engine.

ABS and the traction and stability programs all use the same sensors, hence the bank of lights. You'll also get a 5500 rpm rev limit because Maserati don't want you to end up in a ditch

It is the hub then, there is little doubt about that.

Hi, I have been looking at Eurosparesand I see they have changed their web site. A little confusing.
I want to make sure I have the right part number. Is it Hub Bearing #197064? It appears to be the same part for the front and rear? Am I reading this correctly?
Thanks in anticipation.

For a GS? Then that should be the right one. It is the same front and rear. But the commonality of parts doesn't seem to help the price!

Yes the hub is the same all round on all the 4200/Spyder/GS with the exception of the early 2002 4200's, they had a unique one that is rather expensive.

I believe the only difference was the voltage to the ABS sensor.
